Was going for Nursing, but heard about the "turn away of students due to lack of teachers" so Ive been considering Rad Tech program while finishing up on pre-reqs at school. Whats the average SALARY for a Rad Tech? How much COMPETITION is there out there for this type of job?

You'll have to look here for salary, as it is VERY different based on the area of the country: http://www.asrt.org/content/rts/surveyresults/wageandsalarysurvey/wagesalsurvey2007.aspx

I started it about 15 years ago,but the waiting list was almost 2 years..I work in an E.R and work with a couple in the program..It's really not that bad and the techs that I work with overnight LOVE it..They are in demand IF you specialize in something..It would require 1-2 years additional schooling, but worth it..My dad is a V.P at a hospital and he still tells me that they are always looking for people..I'd love to finish, but I don't have the stomach for some of it..Anemas, bones peeking through the skin, I just couldn't do it..I'd say go for it! A hospital would probably offer you a job while you're doing clinicals!
