As a kid my Mom would drop me and my brothers and sisters off and leave. When my one sister was old enough to drive, she was suppose to take us. We would go to 7/11 and buy Doritos and coke and sit in the parking lot. On the way home, we would stop by the church and grab a program.

As an adult, I felt like I was missing something. I wanted a foundation for my kids. So I found my current church, fell in love and love every Sunday. When I don't go, I feel something missing. I learn something every week and I love seeing all my friends! There are women there that I feel so close to. They truly do feel like my 'sisters'.

Because that church does not give the the spiritual fulfillment that they need...

It is a bad thing to just go through the motions...

If you do not feel spiritually satisfied, why stay in that church...

Another and better reason would be that...

They see in the church what they see in the world so they say to themselves, "Why be in a church to do those things when I can stay at home or out in the world and do the same...?"

That is a poor reflection upon Christians.....

Great question.

In the past people all the time time used to go to church., but now days attendances are dropping , churches closing (becoming museums and tea houses) all over the place.

The reason is that people are not being satisifed by what they are hearing and/or learning.

Why is that?
Religious leaders are simply not teaching the truth about God , his son Jesus and what the future has in store.

They are busy with things like , ¨love thy brother¨ , ¨be good to the poor¨ and such like matters.

While these are important , they don't address the real needs of the people.
People desperately want to know God's will , plan and purpose for mankind and the Earth.

If these sorts of issue interest you plz feel free to email me.

I don;t know about other people but for me, it's because I couldn't believe anymore.

When I was a christian, I had many doubts about the teachings and the bible. I know when people have doubts they just tell themselves to have faith and trust in god because he knows best and we shall not lean on our own understanding..blah blah blah.. but I'm not that kind of person who can just take whatever the pastor or the bible says and believe it to be true.

In the beginning, I tried not to dwell too much in my doubts and prayed to god to show me the answers. This went on for some time until I reached a point where I had to stop believing blindly.

Well, I decided to do some research on both sides of the arguments for and against christianity. I felt that if christianity was indeed true, the research would only strengthen my faith and helped me overcome my doubts.

Unfortunately, all those research and study slowly led me to leave christianity. It was difficult when I finally decided to leave. I suffered from mild depression for a couple of weeks. Couldn't be easy leaving something that was once a very important part of my life.

Sick of meaningless sitting in the pew while someone spews out some coined sermon, rhetorical and preaching law all over again. Going to church to be preach at to observes the law is death - that is why more and more who love truth are seeking God in their own unique way instead of belonging to institutional churches.

I am free and if I feel like visiting one - I just do with no strings attached.

some ppl have gotten hurt in church. with all the judging that ppl pass on others, then the preacher or board members ask married women on dates knowing their married. i remember a time when i was in elementary school my mom went to our church for help with food (my dad was an alcoholic) and whoever the church member was gave my mom a lecture, by that time my mom didn't want the food anymore. one church we went to told my mom she shouldn't wear makeup. matter of fact it seem like all the churches we went to was a bunch of hypocritical churches. i still havent found the church i belong to so i just have church at home with my savior!

Why go to a man made structure to venerate the Divine, when there is a big world out there that the SPIRIT created to worship in?

or

Perhaps its cuz the sciptures say that 'churches' are an abomination to god. Exo 20:25 If you make an altar of stones for me, do not build it with dressed stones, for you will defile it if you use a tool on it.

or

Perhaps its the same as the 'sons of ephraim' in the books of Hosea and Habakuk....Hos 4:6-8 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. "Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children. The more the priests increased, the more they sinned against me; they exchanged their Glory for something disgraceful. They feed on the sins of my people and relish their wickedness.

Hab 2:16 the cup from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.

I don't 'give up' on 'going to church'.

It depends on the religion, but I know for myself, church and religion was stifling. It asks too many rules on oneself, there are too many boundaries, too much that causes one to feel guilt and shame.
I chose freedom to worship how I choose and to follow my own paths. I know I am a good person and I do not need the walls of religion to tell me otherwise.
