The serial number you gave does not match any Remington firearm that I'm aware of. If your rifle is actually a Winchester Model 1894 .30-30, then that serial number indicates it was manufactured between 1950 and 1960 (toward the end of 1953, assuming steady rates of production).
Win 94s manufactured prior to 1964 are highly sought after by lever-action enthusiasts, and the .30-30 was the most common chambering in these rifles. This cartridge is also known as .30 WCF (Winchester Centerfire) and was the first mass-produced cartridge to use the new smokeless powder. If you're interested in knowing the value, I suggest having it professionally appraised by two sources. Value can vary widely based on unique features and condition.

Do you mean a Remington Rifle? Or do you mean a Model 94 Winchester Lever Action 30-30 ? The serial number you gave is NOT a Remington number..

I've fired all those calibers although not in the rifle configuration you are asking about. I've fired .30-30 Winchesters and find the recoil quite tolerable. I've own and fired two Marlin 336 lever-action rifles but both had been in .35 Remington, a stouter recoiling round than the old 'thurty-thurty.' My .270 doesn't recoil as much as my .308 but my .308 is a lightweight model Browning Lever-action carbine and my .270 is a full-size turn-bolt rifle. And whether my .30-06 recoils any more than the other rifles I've mentioned really depends on the load. According to Chuck Hawks' recoil index this is how they rate: .30-30 150 grain bullet: 10.6 lbs. .30-30 170 grain bullet: 11.0 lbs. .270 Winchester 130 grain bullet: 16.5 lbs. .270 Winchester 150 grain bullet: 17.0 lbs. .30-06 Springfield 150 grain bullet: 17.6 lbs. .30-06 Springfield 180 grain bullet: 20.3 lbs. .35 Remington 200 grain bullet: 13.5 lbs. .308 Win. 150 grain bullet: 15.8 lbs. .308 Win. 180 grain bullet: 17.5 lbs. I don't consider any of the above to produce unmanageable recoil but I am somewhat of a recoil 'junkie;' one of my favorite rifles is my Ruger #1-H in .4-5-8 Winchester Magnum caliber. This one produces 63 lbs. of felt recoil at the shoulder. H

I agree with most posters here that the 30-30 and 270 generally will have a slightly lighter recoil than the 30-06. The main difference is not necessarily the cartridge alone that makes the recoil felt different. Many factors figure in here, the type of action, typically the semi-auto action is going to absorb more recoil energy than a lever action or bolt action. Also the weight of the firearm itself, the charge of the load, and the weight of the bullet all come into play. All being equal however I believe you will find the 30-06 a bit more of a mule, kick wise. All a blast (no pun intended) to shoot. R (-:

You must have been going by the box of ammo that came with it. As the others stated that is a Winchester but can be fired with any companies brand 30-30 ammo.

The Winchester gallery in Fort Worth has a database for dating guns by serial number. I have used them to date old rifles before.
http://www.winchestergallery.com/
Call them with your serial number ready and they can give you an answer then and there.
