My friend recently sent me an iso file to my work computer. It's a software and I wanted to use it at home. Can I just put the iso files onto a cd-r? If so, will I be able to pop the cd-r into my home computer and work immediately or do I need to d/l something to open the file on the cd-r? Thanks in advance~!!

You burn the image ONTO the CD-R, to recreate the CD. Even the free ImgBurn can do that.

u can burn the iso file to a cd with any decnt cd burning program such as Ahead Nero by using burn image command and just browsing to the iso file. if by accident u burn the iso file to a cd, and it's just one huge ISO file on the cd u need a program like Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% to open the contents of the iso file in windows explorer.

Burning it to CD is going to be the most beneficial way of being able to use such a large file. You could also have that person to place the file on a FTP location that is accessible by you, and you may download it that way (of course using a broadband connection). If you choose the CD, you simply insert it into your disc drive and begin working from there. There will be nothing more that you will need to install if the file has burned onto the CD properly.

You just have to do onething...just download DAEMON TOOLS and their is an option mount image...click on it then comes a browser asking about the file point it to the file ISO....and the image is loaded...then go to my computer, and you can see another cd drive...you can use as a usual cd drive...If you want to write it to any cd-r just use nero and give the option cd to cd burn option and it is copied on to the cd-r u wish...have a ni\ce day buddy...

PowerISO is a powerful CD/DVD image file processing tool, which allows you to open ISO files, and mount these files with internal virtual drive. It can process almost all CD-ROM image files including ISO and BIN.

if you have ability to transfer files (some system administrators deny this) you can copy the iso to disk to take it home, but it will still have to be burned as ISO with proper program to be installed as a program. PowerISO will do this for you.
