definetly...Gatorade is high in simple sugars. it is specifically designed to help replenish glucose/glycogen during or after an athletic competition/training, etc. it is not designed to replace the daily recommended water intake. and if you are not active your body does not require a high amount of carbohydrates. the primary energy source of skeletal muscle at rest is free fatty acids. rest being the equivalent to sleeping, watching tv, light house work, walking, office work, etc.

Well yeah. Gatorade is okay to drink for anyone, but really it is meant for someone who is athletic and needs to replenish electrolytes and fluids that you lose when you sweat. The things that are put into these drinks are not designed for the average person sitting on a couch and never exercising. So all that sodium, sugar, and carbs that would otherwise get you through a run and keep you hydrated just sit in your system.

Gatorade contains carbohydrates (i.e. calories) that provide energy for people who do work out. Therefore yes, drinking gatorade will increase your weight just like drinking lots of juice, soda etc.

Well one thing is that it does have sugar and it is bad for you unless you sweat, because its excessive to the body and the body stores the uneeded things also even if you do work out, theres a story on Yahoo that says it doesn't work until you work over an hour. It is filled with vitamins and the special salts your body loses when you sweat, so I suppose there are things your body won't use because you don't work out... >_<
