Take two spoons, put the pills in the bowl of one and put the other on top also facing up and push with thumb and rock to crush between the spoons. If it splatters (most don't) wrap the spoon bowls in seran wrap or aluminum foil.

CRUSHING the tables or medicine and taking is not the correct practice. So never take the crushed tablets. You should some how practice to swallow it fully with water or honey etc. The main reasons for this are -

1. Some tables are sugar or some other coated and it will be very bitter if you crush and take it.

2. Contents of Some tables give you vomiting sensation and people vomit. In such cases it is better to take in full.

3. Spilling a portion of the tablet while crushing is possible and the dose/quantity may be reduced.

4. Finally there is a chance of the medicine getting contaminated while crushing with impurities can be avoided.

So please practice to take in full - it is good for you.-

Use a pill crusher but be careful not all tablets may be crushed eg enteric coated, sugar coated tablets, slow release or MR tablets are designed to be released slowly in the intestines while enteric coated tablets are to skip absorption in the stomach so as to reduce side effects eg stomach ulcers. Be careful what tablets to crush and where in doubt ask the GP to prescribe liquid solutions or suspensions.

The classic method is to use a mortar and pestle if you have them, but as noted above you should make sure it's a tablet that can be crushed. Your pharmacist can tell you. You have some other great suggestions above. I like the two spoons maybe held over a bowl.

before crushing any pills, be sure that they can be crushed and taken... some are desinged to be slow or conrolled release formulas, so you don't want to recieve too strong of a dose. when crushing apill, use a pill slitter to slit it up into small portions, then use a shot glass and a bowl to smash it turning it into a fine powder form. if you don't like the taste, put it in a small cup of orange juice.
