I've recently moved to China and I love it. The only problem is food. I can't order anything because I don't know what anything is called and there's no english anywhere. I live in Xuzhou in the northwest of Jiangsu province. Can anyone sugest some dishes for me and how to pronouce them? I like everything, especially spicy things but fish i don't care for that much. Thanks!

This site has fairly nice information including pictures and pronounciation of some common Chinese dishes:

(and while the person who has put it together is also called Ben, it isn't me - I found it a few months ago).

Actually,You don't have to worry about what kind of food you are going to eat if you are not a vegetarian or allergy to some particular food.Just go to the restaurant and try to use your body language.I think some restaurant has menu with pictures of dishes if you are lucky enough. if not, don't be discouraged, you can watch what other people are eating in the restaurant and tell the waitress the same dishes as them.

Just don't be afraid of unknown language, the people here are friendly to the friend of outside world. you can work out

So what I did was most restaurants have picture menu on a sign at the front door. See something you like, copy the characters down on a pad and show it to the waitress. Worked for me.
