One of Bush's first act as president was to re-institute an international gag-rule which took away US funding to any international hospital that supported or even mentioned abortion. It was a rule first imposted by his dad, repealed by Clinton, but reinstated by Bush.

So if he can't push the religious agenda in the country he "runs" then he just imposes it on third-world countries instead? How is this legal, moral or fair?

I guess pretty much the same way he "legally" sent troops into another country, disrupted their government, and sent them spiraling into practically an all-out civil war ... just because he wanted to.

Crazy, huh?

Push his religious agenda? That's a new one. As far as I'm concerned, President Bush is pushing for total control in an unstable region in order to keep the oil flowing without interruption. This has nothing to do with religion, even though that would be a side benefit if America were to convert the Islamics to Christianity. Of course that would never happen.

You answered your own question when stating that "clinton" repealed the "Bush" imposing of "religion" so that you had "clinton " imposing his sinful lifestyle on us, and how is this ; as you say , Legal , Moral , or Fair !!. Oh ! By the way , if you check your history , "clintons`" 1st act as president was to truly initiate a "gag-rule" for queers and lesbians in the armed forces..

Well, I don't know that Bush did that, but if he did, more power to him. I don't want my tax money spent on abortions. Not in the US and not outside the US. That is a political opinion and not religious. I think that a fetus is a human life and should not be killed at the whim of an irresponsible person. Nothing will change my mind about that.

People can quote all the gory stories about abortions they want and I will still be opposed to them in most cases.

How exactly is he "imposing" his religion on other countries - or anyone else for that matter?

I don't ever recall him saying to Karzai and al-Malaki that "now that I've pulled your rumps out of the fire, you are to practice Christianity now; and that goes for the rest of your citizens too". Last I checked, Iraq and Afghanistan were STILL Muslim countries.

As a matter of fact, Afghanistan's official name is, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (check the UN charter). Furthermore, the words, "Allah Akbar" are STILL on the Iraqi flag. When's the last time you heard a non-Muslim say, "Allah Akbar" and meant it?

I'm serious...when?

The same way that people view abortion as being fair, and moral and legal.

Um, is it "legal, moral or fair" to say that U.S. money isn't "free"?

Certainly, MOST sources of money/funding have requirements.

Maybe the better thing would be to just not give away any money to anyone outside the U.S.?

It is not LEGAL, MORAL or FAIR. And who says that the conservative Christian "Religious Right" is NOT attempting to push their religion's agenda in the US.

The reason their success has been spotty at best is that people are not simply going to allow that agenda to govern by fiat.

what does it have to do with religion? It's a moral issue
If a kid comes in to the hospital, there's no way American doctors are going to reject that kid.
It's saying "Americans are NOT going to pay for their abortions."

People do things every day that aren't particularly legal, moral, or fair. Most of them are neither caught nor punished.

Peace to you.
