I am not pregnant yet but we are trying, and my dog has always knocked me over and tripped me whenever she gets the chance.
I am really worried about her jumping up on me or knocking me over when I'm pregnant. I can't get rid of her because she the family pet. What should I do?

I have tried training her with treats, commands, yelling, ignoring her, and more. they only work for a little while until she works out what I'm doing then she starts playing up again. The only thing that works is chaining her up and I'm not a big fan of that. although when my husband is around she is the perfect dog for him!

Sounds more like she found a fun game that also allows her to dominate you. Nadina has the answer.

I have never had any of my dogs become jealous of a puppy, but i have had them become jealous of a new older dog coming into the family. Right now you have to give both dogs equal amount of attention so you're older one doesn't become overly jealous of the new puppy. The next way to go about it is if your older dog is becoming too mean with the little puppy, that you're puppy is yiping, you just tap your dog on the butt or nose, not too hard but just a firm tap that lets him know what he's doing is wrong. It also helps if you start out in a small room with the two. Whenever your older dog treats your new puppy with kindness then you praise your dog, by petting him and giving him so much attention he'll begin to realize the more nice he plays with the puppy the more attention he's going to get from you. Another tip your dog is showing whose boss, so you're going to have to give him so leway so he can prove whose in charger around the house. I hope this helps and everything turns out okay! :)

This doesn't necessarily mean that she is jealous. Invest in a dog training course from some place like Petsmart. Dogs do what owners allow them to do. They are like children and have to be taught.

If your very concerned, and you are not willing to get rid of her, put forth the money and take her to a professional trainer. They do wonders.

My dog does this too, but he's a puppy, and he doesnt do it purposely, he's also still in training. My other dog, female. She is pretty good now. Just get her professionally trained. It may cost alot, but it's sure worth it!

TRAIN HER.

Start now.

There is NO excuse for a dog doing that - it's just that the owners have never bothered to train her not to.

She's not jealous of you, that's ridiculous. In the wild, only alpha female breeds.. You are not alpha female, she is.. So you should not be the one that is being bred. Be more alpha.. Let her know if there is any breeding going on.. it's you. . She doesn't take your authority seriously. You are more of a playmate than a leader.

teach her to stop doing that! It sounds bad, but a trainer told me a long time ago.. when she starts to jump on you, bring your knee up to protect yourself and say NO! or Down.. after a few of these.. she will stop.
