here's what i do for it...

Stewed dates:
Take some whole dates, and stuff them with sunflower seeds (out of the shell, of course). Then put about a cup of red wine and about 2 tablespoons on honey in a pot, and simmer the dates until the skin curls.
Then eat them. Like wine-soaked candy. Yum

I would assume you could stew dates the same way I stew prunes or figs. Just put them in a glass jar or bottle and pour boiling hot water over them to cover. Put the lid on to keep the heat awhile. As they plump, you might need to add a little more hot water. Then refrigerate.
