Hi Wisdom.

That is a happy question — to me, anyway.

God is in Heaven, but God is everywhere.

All I have to do is look out my window each early morning to see the light dawning, the colors in the sky, the clouds, to see God. The trees, flowers, birds, butterflies - I can sit among them & see God. He created all of it. He created us. He is perfection.

As the day ends & night comes, I spend time alone with God. I talk to Him about my day. First I give thanks to Him for each thing He has given me that day. Then I ask forgiveness for any sins I may have done during the day. Then I pray to Him on behalf of anyone who has asked me to pray for them. This is a form of meditation, yet in this type I do not clear my mind — I simply put myself in a private "place" with God.

I can, and I do pray to God, no matter where I am. I can be alone or in the middle of a crowd, but I can always pray to Him. He also hears me, no matter where I am. I pray to God when I am happy & want to thank Him, and I pray to Him when times are difficult & I want His help. I am not "weak and scared," as someone said.

However, I love to go to church to pray with other people. The purpose of that is the joy of communal worship.

We do not have to go to a church to pray or to worship God, and we should pray to Him even when not in church.

But it is a joyous feeling to share love with each other, to smile at each other, to sing out loud together, to pray together. All for the worship of God.

Also, we have a teacher at church, several teachers, actually — ministers. They read a passage from one of the Gospels to us, and then they teach a lesson, something we can think about & learn from. This lesson is called a Sermon, which is a talk on a religious or moral topic.

So, we go to church for more than praying. Prayer is part of the religious service we attend, but so is singing, learning, sharing.

I always take home a wonderful feeling.

I wish I could still go, but I cannot. However, I always talk to God from my bedroom, and I know He hears me. Also, my minister comes to see me, to teach me (and to learn from me, she says).

Thank you for reminding me of how much I enjoy worshipping in church.

Peace.

Where did you leave Him ? God resides in the hearts of His children, we do not need a church or temple to pray. I like to think that churches & temples are like beacons of Light that draws weary people to the Love of God, a place to rest in the Father's arms. My Father's house is a house of prayer, what some have turn it into, sadly I don't think even Jesus would approve.

Because it give them comfort to be before the images of what they believe. If will help them to have a more civilized mind and a better understand of their God, then so be it.

However, one only need to realize that God is everywhere, over there, in here, outside, underneath, up there, out in space, in the person smile, in that persons heart, in the beauty of life on this earth. God is everywhere.

He is everywhere and everything. People go to churches and temples to pray to unite together as one and to give thanks as one. They want to be around people who share the same faith as you. They come together to pray together for others.

"i wonder why people go to church and temples to pray?"

Because that's what they think they have to do.

"Where is god?"
He is with those who trust Him.

I don't go to church to pray. I could pray anywhere. We congregate to worship Him in spirit & truth. God is omnipresent. He has commanded that we (believers) not forsaking the assembling together.

Only in the minds of the weak and scared.

"god" is nothing more than a nonsense word created by man to explain away all of the things we can't yet understand.

Religion is a disease of the mind, born of fear, which has done nothing but bring untold misery down upon the human race.
