Well, more so than anything else it's the feeling that you're actually using the same club as Tiger, Left, Monty... Insert name _______.

I think there's the commerical that has a guy teeing off of 18 at Pebble Beach who says, "If I par here, I'll have the same score as Tiger when he shot his final round here in the U.S. Open." His friend says, "He shot 100?" Guy says, "No, I'm a 28 handicap... do the math!" He then proceeds to duff his shot like 30 yards... Anyways, what I'm trying to enforce is that as long as people have money, they'll buy clubs that the pros use to compare with their own game. I love watching golf on TV and trying to stack my game up with the pros. (i'm a 5.8 btw)
Also, while copied clubs do hit very well, the warranty usually isn't as good (I'm reminded of Callaway's lifetime warranty on their Big Bertha series) and to me, doesn't quite have the same feel/distance, although that could be rectified with better shafts. That 5-10 yard difference per nine can be a 2-3 shot swing, especially meaningful in a tourney.
But for the regular hacker out there or someone playing for fun, they probably should save their money.

I purchased a knockoff of a 7-wood a few years ago and was quite pleased. I had no complaints with the club at all.
However, I've read some articles and have seen a report on HBO's Real Sports about the knockoff manufacturers that made me a bit leary of buying a knockoff/clone. Not all of the knockoff manufacturers are trustworthy. When I bought my TaylorMade driver at a respected pro shop in my city, I had no doubt as to what I had just purchased.
