A person can find many benefits through meditation. The reason I do it are as follows:
1)self-awareness
2)self-discipline
3)astral projection
4)astral travel
I am sure that there will be many answers to this question. Just remember that there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to what you seek. Quite a few people meditate for their own reasons and seeking their own answers. It is good to find out for yourself, that means you are ready to learn more about yourself and become more aware of who you are.

If done well, it brings you back to your self. Real happiness is within ourselves, not from external source. It is the mind that interprets the value of the external, therefore happiness thru the external is difficult to find because the world is complex and value is infinite. But thru meditation, your focus is your inner self and you close yourself to the world. After doing a meditation, you would feel light and contented. Also, it helps you focus before a task.
For beauty purpose, it's very good also. You will develop that kind of peaceful aura that radiates.

Meditation promotes a peacful state of mind, which promotes better health. I was once getting a physical to renew my CDL, and the doctor found my BP to be a bit high. I asked for 10 minutes to meditate, did so, and brought it down by 10 pts.

Meditation is a great thing, it clears your mind, your thoughts drift away, negative things are gone...I like to meditate while doing yoga. There are great CD's for meditation, help you relax and clear your mind. If anything, it helps lower blood pressure! lol
But seriously, you can meditate and reflect on positive emotions, or you can focus on religious aspects. It doesn't have to be for religious reasons to meditate.

I find that meditation gives me a chance to relax my body and sort out my thoughts.. For me it's like spring cleaning for my mind.... Very refreshing to get it all sorted ..
