They maybe fly bites. Keep an eye on them because flies could lay their eggs in the sores and cause maggots to grow. Is he a long haired dog, because he could have poop stuck to his rear which will attract the flies. Is the area where he sleeps clean? You can buy a fly and insect repelant for animals at your local pet store or even on line. The spray will help to keep the insects off him.

Make sure to remove his food bowl after he's finished eating. If he doesn't finish straight away, don't leave it out for later - it'll only attract flies.
You can get a cream from the vet which will repel flies and soothe his bites. Be sure to get some because they could get infected (flies do like to lay eggs....) and then you might find more than flies on him - you could end up with maggots. Yuck!

The very best choice would be to bring him in. If you can't do that, then go get some swat or skat. It is a spray with pyrethrins to keep the flies off. There are other brand names of fly repellent for animals too.

German sheppards and huskys and the pointy eared dogs seem to have trouble with this. you need to clean the ear with proxide and get some antibiotic salve and put it on thick also go to a farm store or co-op or rural king and get the salve that keeps flies off its also used for horses. spray his surroundings for flies or hang up some fly strips. u may have to bring him in till the sores heal and just take him out often to potty especially about 15 minutes after you feed him.In this heat its best anyway

ask a vet what to do, the last thing you want is your poor puppy's sore to get infested with flies.
