I was told(by a recent convert from Pentecostal to LDS) that the Pentecostal church teaches it's members to stay away from Mormons...

Why?! Why do Pentecostals have such a problem with them?

Mormons are the LDS church which is short for The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints...

How are they non-Christian...and by the way, all organized religion is a cult...so the Catholics are a cult too...

Kara, I HIGHLY doubt they told you that your deceased children were YOUR fault...

As far as the never seeing them again, that's because Mormons believe in sealing families together so they'll be together in the afterlife...

Edge, mormon.org is going slow for me, but I WILL get you answers to the things you mentioned...

To the person below you, the LDS church preaches of the SAME Jesus you believe...I don't know where you got that from.

And the BoM preaching a gospel "contrary" to what was taught by Paul. We preach the same gospel, but we have the BoM which tells us what happened a long time ago and where Jesus came when He tended to the sheep which were not of "this fold".

Ok, Edge, the website is working ok now...

The LDS church DOES believe that the atonement and suffering was the ultimate sacrifice needed for forgiveness. But in order to receive that forgiveness you must repent(confess, ask forgiveness, (when possible) repair the damages, forsake the sin, and strive to keep the commandments.

As far as the Satan thing, mormon.org doesn't say anything about Satan being Jesus' brother...but I could just be bad at searching.

Listen, I'm still learning about the faith and so are lots of others, and I am obviously not a proper authority for teaching since I'm not baptized. As far as the creation of beings you should contact the missionaries so you can ask them(they are tested before they go on their mission about the faith, so they can answer all your questions)...when I tried to write it down I got confused...so I don't doubt you would be confused either...so best thing to do would to contact the church or the missionaries and ask yourself.

Im Apostolic / Pentecostal and i never heard that one before, Its a lie. When people ask questions like this, it brings too much confusion and falseness. Their are alot of people who don't like the mormon belief not just pentecostals, We love the people but just don't agree with their belief, what christian doesn't. All Christians believe they are a cult. I don't hate them.

I think it's because they don't understand what we really believe. Most other religions hear things and don't understand them. Things get twisted or told wrong when things aren't understood and people usually will believe what leaders of churches tell them.

If I wasn't LDS, I would probably feel the same way about us as they do. I can understand why they feel the way they do, but I don't agree with them. It isn't hate, it's that I understand more about my religion then they do.

I had a friend in high school that was a born- again Christian. Her father is a pastor, and I don't know how many times I heard from him that my religion was wrong, and I didn't know what my religion was really about, and if I didn't become born again then I was going to hell. He even tried to get me caught up in a Book of Mormon bash session. It was funny though, I pretty much used the Book of Mormon to prove the bible right. He just sat there, looking pretty shocked and never tried it again. My point in this is to say that I think it's more Born-agains and a few other sects of Christianity that have more of a problem with us then pentecostals.

I know many pentecostal people, and they are nice to me, and don't really say much about my religion. I think it all depends on how you treat them. Show them respect, and they are more likely to give respect back. If anyone has a question about what I believe, or want to know if what they have heard is true, then feel free to email me. I'll give any info that I know of, and it will all be done with respect. Everyone has the right to believe as they will, and no one has the right to tell anyone that they are wrong for the faith they hold dear.

I remember polls showing that not many republicans liked mormons either. Mormonism is an offense to christianity and can litterally be proven wrong at this very moment due to it's inconsistencys in the book of mormon in correlation with the holy bible and forensic science. But believe what best fits your life. I'm just stating there are provable FACTS that debunk mormonism as a scam from a con man.

I think it depends on the person, not the religion that they are.
It sounds like you are studying the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints whose name the church bears. Remember Joseph Smith himself was confused of the many different religions when they said "Lo here" and "Lo there". He himself as just a 14 year old came across a scripture in James Chapter 1 verse 5. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all men liberally and abraideth not". Put that test together for yourself. The most important thing is what you believe to be true; then nothing else matters or what they may think. That is a start of a testimony. A testimony of the LDS church is one of the most important thing you can gain in a lifetime; and you can't put a price on it.
I'm Happy to be a convert myself and to live the standards of the church.

I'm a Pentecostal and I don't hate any Mormoms. Infact, I can honestly say that I don't hate anyone. Dislike there lifestyle? Maybe so. But hate is a pretty strong word..

and WHOA. this goes to searching

I do not go around in busted up old fashioned clothes. Instead I do aim for modesty! But not old sheep clothes, phst.
It's cool though. It's not like we're saying that you HAVE to get the holy spirit to get into the kingdom

1.) It wouldn't be a really really good idea to stereotype them.

2.) Because they think that we are doing the Devil's work and that kind of crap about us.
They think that only they will be saved and nobody else will. I used to attend Pentecostal church when I was like 3 or 4 and I can remember that I only liked to go because they gave me cookies :P Ok, seriously, the pastor used to talk really loud and that scared me.

Sadly, they are not the only ones that think of Mormons and other religions that way. Born Again Christians and Baptists hit it harder than the Pentecostals against the Mormons and other churches.

After all, I respect them, and I would love it if they did the same for our church.

[edit]: did I mention that my dad is pentecostal along with my half brothers and sisters? But other tha all other Pentecostals I've met... My dad loves it that I am a Mormon and he doesn't hate any religion. He proclaims himself as a pentecostal but he doesn't really go to church anymore or keep any relationship with any. He reads his Bible and pray and has a huge faith in the Lord. As for my step brothers and sisters, I only know 2 of them. Only one knows that I'm Mormon. When she first knew that I was going to the Mormon church she was like weird!!! and invited me to hers. One year after that I had converted to Mormonism. I saw my sister for the 2nd time in my life, she came to my house and the missionaries were appointed to come that same day. They came and my sister and her husband listened to them and they acted really nice each other. She took some pamplets I had of the church and the missionaries gave them some, she seemed to be happy.... but her husband was clearly not too happy, but he was always gentle with the missionaries. After they left he was really quiet and didn't talk a lot. They stayed until late night. But my sister didn't bash or anything. We haven't talked after that. That was more than 3 months ago.

I am not Pentecostal but I have some family members who are.

You don't seem to understand that disagreeing with some one's theology is not the same as hating them.

To understand the differences between Mormonism and Christianity, read this:

Pentecostals feel superior to all of christendom. They feel they're the only ones who have really received the holy spirit.

Guess all it takes is babbling nonsense, running up and down the church and rolling on the floor.

Do this anywhere else and you'd end up in a looney bin.... do it in a building, call it a church and you get a tax deduction! go figure.

I'm not going to use the word hate...and though I'm not "Pentacostal", I am Charismatic, I'd still like to throw out an answer.

1-Mainline believe that Jesus is eternal, Mormons believe He is created.
2-Mainline believes Jesus is only son, Mormons teach Jesus and Lucifer are spiritual brothers.
3-Mainline believes our destiny is eternity in presence of the only God...Mormons teach "as man is, god once was - as god is, man shall be", which is the belief Mormons highest reward is to become their own god.

Please tell me if I'm misinterpretting.

I am pentecostal and I don't hate mormons. However I do believe many of your teachings are wrong. Things such as the blood of Christ not being enough for some sins. Then there is the whole book of mormon thing. I truly believe if anyone visited John Smith it was a demon. Another thing and correct me if I am wrong but you believe Satan is Jesus' brother. And that Jesus was created. Jesus was the only begotten Son of God and He is one with God. Satan was an angel.

I would love to hear if anything I stated is wrong.
