Dood, every time you ask a question you always get like a million answers. No, its not a sin to listen to songs with cuss words in them. I don't even think its a sin to cuss. Yes, its bad, but not a sin. Of course, I really wouldn't know.

According to which religion?

Ultimately the idea behind sin is that somebody (or lots of somebodies) get hurt.

Maybe by you listening to the cuss words you are promoting people cussing at each other, or perhaps the songs have a theme of violence that you are becoming acclimated to.

Personally, I can't stand vulgarity for the sake of vulgarity ... but when it is used to make an artistic point, then presumably that point exceeds the risk of promoting cussing and/or violence.

First it's important to know why people use such words. Often it is adolescent rebellion. At times it is an indication of an angry, tormented person. But sometimes, in adult communications, strong language gets an important, vital message across much more forcefully than polite words. At such times, it is no sin to use those words. So the answer to your question is no. You are not the one expressing those words, whether you know them or not. That would be like saying you're a murderer because you know ways to murder someone. And you know that you are no such thing as a murderer.

I had two ponds of fish one time and I had one higher than the other and had it fixed so the bottom one looked as if it was coming from the top one. So I was going to clean the bottom one so I put the fish in the top and I put some bleach in the water to help clean the pond so I went away for a while and when I came back the fish were dieing. I said all of this to say when we put bad stuff in our mind it lead us away from god we need to think on things that are pure and wholesome. I know that it is heard to do you watch tv and it is there you listen to Cd's and it is there. I hope that this helps I guess what I am trying to say what you put in comes back out. God bless

Good question. Of course it is not a sin. But I will say that what comes into the mind is generally what fills the mind. You will find yourself tempted to use those words more often if you listen to them frequently. The Bible tells us to keep our mind fixed on things that are positive, pure, good, and uplifting. If those songs meet that test, then they are OK to listen to. Otherwise, find some new music!

Good Luck!

Cuss words won't hurt you, so don't worry about it. They are just sounds. If you don't believe me, just put your hand in front of your mouth and say one of these so-called "bad" words. You will see that nothing happen - your hand is fine and the world is still the same.

My son and I disagree on this very subject. He listens to music that I don't approve of but he's too old for me to stop him. My daughter on the other hand doesn't listen to that type of music. She is by no means perfect, as none of us are but when you look at each of their lives there is a lifestyle difference. I've been told that he curses a lot. He doesn't do it around me very often. I know that he drinks when he hangs out with friends, and he smokes. My daughter does not smoke drink or curse. They both go to church and consider themselves to be Christian. The thing is we are to guard our hearts and minds. The Bible says'' I will set no wicked thing before my eyes'' I would say that could go for our ears also. It's a matter of how excellent of a Christian do you want to be? Do you want to be effective for Christ? In my opinion it's just junk food for the mind. Use your time to learn and do more beneficial and positive things. Life is short and your time is precious. I also believe that when you listen to vulgarity, you grieve the Holy Spirit, which dwells inside you. God bless!!

It is a fact of life that whatever a person allows to occupy his mind will sooner or later determine his speech and his action. This is the premise behind Philippians 4:8 and Colossians 3:2,5: establishing wholesome thought patterns. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says we "take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ." This is how we allow Jesus to be "the Lord of our lives". That gives us a pretty clear picture of the kind of music we SHOULDN'T listen to.

SIN is doing something you know is wrong;-{
when you had the freedom to resist.
So what's your reason for listening to this negative stuff?
Are you doing research to help others?
Or are you mildly titillated by the vicarious enjoyment?
It all comes down to your motive & actions.
