First time mom and I came up with the bay or beach for a couple of hours with a canopy of course. Any other ideas would be so helpful. I would love for friends and family to join us. I now live in Texas and we are flying to my home town (san diego) for our sons big week. We will have something for him on that Saturday. Thank you for any ideas! :)

How about Gymboree Play Centers, The Little Gym, My Gym, etc...they are all very similair & do parties. If you want something more detailed that you can do yourself-then the bay or the park is a great idea. October in SD is still really nice weather, only sometimes a tad bit chilly but people will be prepared for that. Corvette diner is fun, as log as you don't mind celebrating with a bunch of other strangers eating in the restaurant.....what about reserving a small room at a restaurant or hotel and having a face painter and balloon artist?

He's ONE. Gather at Grandma's house, give him a small cake to explore and smear, take pictures and visit with friends and family. He won't remember his first birthday party, and too much activity and new people may overwhelm him and you could end up with and unhappy, crying baby. Invite the grandparents and one or two close friends or your siblings (hopefully ones he knows or is familiar with) and then just share pictures with the rest of your friends and family-maybe set up a blog or do a video feed. Better a happy baby and a few pictures for the scrapbook than doing The Traditional Kid Party and having an upset little one.

Take him to Dickes in old town.. pirate action, and get a petty waitetrees because they ollg him for ever!! dress him like pirate, and dad will love it to... because of the beer!? also all the other parents you invite???

YOU NEED TO GO TO THE "CORVETTE DINER IN HILLCREST 'CAUSE YOUR SON WILL BE 1 ON HALLOWEEN AND EVERYONE DRESSES UP THERE AND IT IS A NONSTOP "PARTY" OF 50's COSTUMES AND MUSIC. YOUR SON WILL NOT BE BORED
