Dogs require a lot of time and energy. They can get depressed even if you're not around a lot. So, I would wait on getting a dog until your situation changes.
In the mean time, perhaps volunteer at your local shelter or vet's office so you can still spend time with different pets.

I would get a pet that doesn't need as much attention, like a cat or hamster or something. But if you really want a dog, adopt an old dog, because not only are old dogs the ones that get less adopted therefore put down. Older dogs are better because they are more settled down, and they aren't as active so they need less time to be played with. However I'm not saying they don't need plenty of attention, so seriously think if you have enough time to have a dog. You don't want
to get a dog if your just going to give it away
Good luck.

If you don't have a lot of time to spend with a dog, don't get one, that would be cruel.
Wait until your situation changes and you have more time before you even think about getting a dog.

The stuffed kind... If you dont have the time to dedicate to a dog then dont get one - It isnt fair to the dog...... Dogs are great ptes but if you dont have the time for one how about a cat? Cats are great campanions but do not require as mch attention and can be left alone for longer periods of time.

alll dogs need attention and love, but puppies need more care. if you don't have a lot of time, get a grown dog that is already trained. How about a mixed breed? Then you can find one that is suitable. Try the local animal shelter.

Basically we have to spend more time with dogs. If you have a dog, you can't just leave it alone when you are out. If you are out and you just leave your dog, it might just destroy your stuff and so on........ If you have no time at all, better is not have a dog. You can just have a pet fish.

If you have a busy schedule and are dead set on getting a dog, then I would reccomed the Chow Chow.
Anyone who has ever known a Chow Chow will tell you they are so arrogant and independent that it is disturbing. They do well on their own as they think that they are too good for everyone else. They protect property with zeal because they think "how dare anyone touch MY stuff"

a stuffed dog....
a older more settled dog...
a less intelligent breed - like a Shih Tzu...
DO NOT get an intelligent dog - it will be bored and become destructive..
DO NOT get a young dog - it will become destructive and without proper socialization it will be a mess by 6 months of age...

how much time are you talking about? A dog needs alot of your time. Maybe a cat would be better if you don't have a lot of time to devote to them.
