Personally I don't see anything wrong with piercings. Your preacher was out of line on this one. God doesn't care what you look like on the outside. It's the inside that counts. And that's a big problem these days,Christians and others criticizing people too much on the outward appearance. In other words, judging people without knowing them at all. I'm tempted to get a nose piercing myself, and if and when I do,I'm sure not going to let what others think of me make me feel like I've done something wrong when I know darn well I didn't.

I think that unfortunately your preacher was just viewing the pierced world through a stereotype, while I do agree that there are many people that have piercings that are angry, you're right not everybody is.
I don't believe that the Bible out right and says, "Don't have body pirecings', but I'm sure it alewds to keeping your body sacred, which just means, don't go out and get a tongue ring then hook up with fifteen people to try it out.
The only really bad thing about piercings is if they keloid and you have a horrible scar after you get one.

Well this is part of my problem with churches. When I was a young person, the preacher at my mom's church said that goofy old sitcom called 'Facts of Life' was evil because it was teaching sex. I asked him if he had ever seen it, and he said no because the name said it all, he didn't have to. Well you get the drift. Just as a note though.. a lot of people don't like the look of nose or mouth piercings because they convey to some a sense of something unhygenic or nasty. If you have ever seen a booger stuck to the base of a nose ring then you know why.

Isaiah chapter 3 actually does talk a bit about this subject, and then from there, there's a great deal of "personal interpretation" that needs to take place, prayerfully.
If you look at that chapter, the Lord is chastising the "daughters of Zion" who are haughty and walk with "wanton eyes and mincing as they go..." Then He says that in the last day, He'd take away the bracelets and ornaments and earrings. Then, in verse 21 He specifically even mentions nose jewels. No, He never mentions belly-button jewels. ;-)
The message of the scripture though is relatively simple, in that we need to dress simply, without vanity. We should dress well, but often we become so caught up with decorating our own "temples" we forget the Lord, and what we are really supposed to do with our lives.
So maybe the real question is why GET a nose ring? What is the purpose? What are we trying to prove either to ourselves, or to our friends, or to God? And, are our motives really in line with the Gospel of the Lord?
Ultimately, it's up to you. There will only be one person with you on the day of judgement, and that's Christ. So not even your Pastor will be there to cast judgement. It'll just be You and God, and you will have to explain your actions. If you're comfortable with speaking about this to God, then you know your answer. if not, you should second guess.
God bless.

lol fk stupid , why would wearing baggy pants or body piercing 'angry' ? and 'believe the world owes them something'
thats like one of the dumbest thing ever said. if you see someone wearing pink shirt , and it's a fashion that time , adn thus you wore a pink shirt like others.
then came baggy pants , it's a fashion and to you , you think it's cool, and suddenly when you wear it , it becomes that you are angry and yada yada
it's no wonder some preacher like this pissess of some of the believer due to this insensitive and ignorant remark that some believer turn out of christianity.
in case you guys misunderstood what i meant by turning people out of christianity , it's not only people getting pissed and left the religion .
some believer just stop going to the church because of these remarks , and sooner or later start to lose faith and finally left the religion

The Bible doesn't deal with every little bitty thing, especially since people probably were farming and probably weren't piercing their body back then.
a lot depends on WHAT YOU PIERCE - I think it's just because it seems shocking to people, and it seems that you are harming yourself. and that's depending again on what you are piercing.
it's just a personal preference for people more than anything else. I don't know if it really does harm a person, or not. but for me it's a big turn off - it isn't very attractive, and I just dont' think women with piercings are attractive (I'm straight, so I don't care what guys look like) - I don't know that it's wrong or anything, it just doesn't appeal to me. see what I mean? there are people who think piercings are attractive on people, and I am not one of those people. I don't know why someone would think it's wrong, but it's just not very attractive to me. There are people who think this is attractive - I guess, it's probably just personal opinion and preference.
like some people think big noses look good, and other people don't like people with big noses. it comes to that.
now I do think piercing your tounge is wrong because it's obvious that can cause a person injury.

I dnt believe that every1 who has piercings in places other than your earlobes is angry.
I apologize that I don't remember the chapter, but i know it is Deut. it talks about piercings and tattoos. It explains that your body is a temple, God's temple and it is a way of respecting it.

The preacher was just being overly conservative. Doesn't surprise you, does it?
The Bible does not mention piercings specifically....however, it does mention that a pierced ear is the mark of a slave.

It always makes me think of the mechanics of the whole procedure. Piercing itself is kind of self-damaging. I mean you are basically scarring the tissue, severing the nerves and sometimes even breaking blood vessels in your body. That is my problem with it.
