What if I go to confession and confess a mortal sin to the priest, but then I commit that sin again after confession, will god forgive me if confess that sin again? Or are you not allowed to do a sin again after you commit it?

God will keep forgiving you over and over. Just relax, and go to confession. If you're having trouble with a particular sin, staying away from confession is the worst thing you could do.

U can confess the sin again and be forgiven. But I don't know if god will forgive u. Remember, he knows ur heart. He's ur Father, and they only forgive the same sin only so many times. U truly have to be sorry and repent. And when u do that, u don't commit the same sin anymore, because after u stumble a couple of times, u try ur hardest to stop. That's what God sees. U can get redemption from a preist and do penance, and he can absolve u. But in ur heart, if ur not sorry, u won't beforgiven by the Lord. IT's like ur sorry u got caught. Anything can be controlled if u pray and try. God will give u strength. U might not be able to choose the feelings, but u can control actions. Good luck, and god bless. Remember though, guilt is not of God, so if u really mean it, u'll get forgiven, and u'll be ok.

i'm not a catholic. i'm a confessional lutheran, which means that we have the same policy (as far as confession and absolution go) regarding this matter, so i hope you don't mind if i answer. if there is true repentance in your heart, you will be forgiven. a big one for me is getting angry, especially when i'm at work, and someone isn't doing their job (i work in management- it comes with the territory). after a while, i realize what kind of attitude i've had, and i confess and repent. to repent simply means to change your mind- to think to yourself, or even say out loud, something like, ''i'm sorry for that. i don't want to do that again.'' if you're trying not to commit that sin again, and you slip up, confess again. repent again. God knows we're not perfect, and He will forgive us, which is great, because if He wasn't that way, i have no doubt about where i would end up when i die.

Just confess again. We're human and far from perfect. Every sin I confess I committed again. Just try harder in the future and be truly sorry.

God forgives all sin. The Priest will grant absolution if there is genuine contrition.

Many Priests know all-too-well the same "line" said by many in the confessional:

"Father...I cannot believe I did it again!"

If the sin is habitual...then the Priest may ask for more information about your spiritual life and give advice on how to combat your "besetting" sins...but - absolution is granted.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is meant to be received as many times as is needed for you to repent of your sins.

Everyone has a particular moral weakness that leaves one particularly susceptible to committing certain sins. So we all have that same problem. We all have something we need to keep confessing over, and over, and over again.

Whatever sin you commit repeatedly, so long as you repent repeatedly, you can eek forgiveness via the Sacrament of Reconciliation as many times as it takes.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation not only serves as a venue to ask forgiveness and be absolved of your sins. When you are forgiven, God gifts you with graces that will help you combat your particular moral weakness. Each time you go to confession, you receive more and more of these grace that, over time, will make it easier for you to resist temptation.

Of course. listen to this -

the visions of a young uneducated nunn, who became the first saint of the 21st century. She spread a message of mercy to the modern world, which John Paul II declared his personal mission. This is what Jesus told her:

"I am Love and Mercy itself. My heart overflows with great mercy for souls, and especially for poor sinners.... My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or angel, will ever be able to fanthom it throughout all eternity....

Let no soul fear to draw near to my mercy, even though its sins may be as scarlet. My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the whole world. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion.... The greater the sinner, the more right he has to my mercy.... On the cross the fountain of My mercy was opened wide by the lance for all souls - no one have I excluded!

...Tell my priests that hardened sinners will repent on hearing their words when they speak about my unfanthonable mercy, about the compassion I have for them in My heart.

...Come with faith to the feet of My representative. I myself am waiting there for you. I am only hidden by the priest. I Myself act in your soul. Make your confession before me.... Come with trust to draw graces from this fountain."

You can repeat sin and repeat confess. As a kid, I always had "Did not honor my mother and father" on my list, every single time.

Matthew 18:21-22

Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”
“No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!
