i am lactose intolerant & have ibs. i am constantly in the bathroom with diarrhea. it is a miserable existence, so i've decided to go on a liquid diet until i can see my doctor (the end of this week). according to a "full" list of things one can have on a liquid diet- yogurt counts. will this only worsen things, though?

All dairy products contain lactose including yoghurt.

What you need is lactose free milk that you can get at major supermarkets such as Coles and Woolworths.

Another option is to switch to soy milk.

If you are only mildly lactose intolerant, then you would be able to eat some yogurt. Breyer's makes a lactose-free ice cream. I saw it in the grocery store last week.

try taking the yogurt with lactase drops (which you can get from the pharmacy without a prescription). Lactase is an enzyme which breaks down the lactose found in dairy which you can put in the yogurt to break them down before eating it. It is what dairy manufacturers use to break down the lactose in lactose-free milk.

Try to find a soy yogurt instead and see if that helps. Did your doctor tell you do go on a liquid diet?

Noooooo! Don't eat yogurt! It definitely contains lactose, as it's a dairy product!
