If someone outside of the Christian religion claimed that an illegitimate demigod committed suicide to save them from his own rules, since apparently he and his father are the same, even though there are two of them, leaving a third spook to watch over things (which is also part of the other two, somehow), what would Christians say about them? Or would the Christians start screaming "blasphemy" at the words illegitimate and demigod? Is this making sense to anybody? It doesn't make sense to us non-Christians either!

all pretty ridiculous, isn't it? Amazing what people will believe. Oh, yeah, and don't you love it?? All the prophecies that said he would come yadayddyadya.... that guy never heard of "messaging" a passage... scribes did that, just as they corrected spelling.... still silly.

When it comes to religion, the more ridiculous it is, the more people will believe...

I appreciate you taking the time to write, and ask your question. You have the basic idea correct but there are a few errors, and I fully understand that. in fact, I appreciate you writing because i'm sure others also have the same ideas.

if an illegitimate demigod showed up claiming to be the savior, he would have to prove his legitmate claim to do so. Jesus did this by fulfilling scriptures. The healing of the sick and such were to get the attention of those present, not to show he had the ability to heal. big deal right? On the subject of suicide, that is a bit incorrect. However you are correct, he stated that no one can take his life, and he delivered his spirit into the hands of the father. Jesus and the Father are one, not the same.

the idea that Jesus and the father are the same person dates back to about 400ad when arius (spelling might be off) was denied a leadership position in the church and he began to teach that Jesus was micheal the arc angel. Then the idea migrated into Jesus and the Father are the same person. This is not correct. The idea of being one, means of the same mind, the same will, the same goals.

as for your demigod, by definition, if he and the father are the same, then you are not dealing with the Christian God head.

As for the spook, in your question, you are dealing with a dual godhead, not a triune, so that is different from the Christian God.

as for screaming blasphemy, no, there is no reason to do this. when the critter that committed suicide did not rise from the dead, we could open the grave and pull the corpse out for viewing.

I want to illistrate something to you. If jesus did not rise from the dead, either the disciples were lying, (why did the jewish authorities not grab the body out and parade it about) or he did rise from the dead.

you can say the disciples went to the wrong grave, but the roman soldiers knew where the grave was. You might not know this, but the roman government passed a law requiring the most horrible death for anyone who desecrated a grave in direct response to the question of where the body of Jesus was.

keep in mind also, that the disciples were really pretty much a group of losers. You think they would try to fight roman guards to get a corpse out of the grave.

the people of that time wanted delivery from roman rule, not some stupid messiah who spoke of salvation and a kingdom in heaven after you die.

keep that in mind. Jesus did more than just die. if that is all he did, his life is a bigger farse than mine.

I hope this helps

Well if he went around healing the sick, raising the dead, calming storms, if his birth, life and death was detailed in prophecy hundreds of years earlier and he himself came back from the dead and appeared in physical bodily form to 400+ witnesses and if secular Historians and archeology verified many details of his life and said he was a real historic person...

then I guess I probably should take him very seriously even though supernatural events are rare and not an everyday ocurrence!

Now if a scientist came along and said he believes there is no god, and because he belives there is no god we all must have evolved from pond slime that resulted from just the right amount of lightning striking just the right mixture of chemical soup at just the right time and the Universe just kind of somehow made itself out of nothing and while he can't prove any of this, it's the best explanation he can come up with - should that make sense to me?

Doesn't his hypothersis require at least as much faith, if not more, than the Religious view?

More importantly, should I stake my entire future on his theories and suppositions?

You are basing your thoughts, not on what the Bible teaches, but rather, on what modern-day religion is teaching. The churches teach God and Jesus are equal. The Bible does not. God is the Father, Jesus is the Son. Read 1 Cor. 15:27,28 to see Jesus is and always will be, in subjection to his Father. Also, the 'spook' you mention, which the Bible refers to as 'holy spirit' is not a person, but, rather the force God used to accomplish and guide. Try to find a pamphlet I've read, "Should You Believe the Trinity?" published by Watchtower. It clears a lot of these things up! I've learned what most people believe on this makes no sense at all, and the reason is, because it is a false teaching, and not Biblical!

First point: Jesus did NOT kill Himself. Do you think He somehow got up on a cross, drive nails into His own feet and then His own hands? Did He whip, hit, kick Himself? Did He stick a spear into His own side? This is what Jesus went through to save us from damnation. But, He didn't do it to Himself. If you are going to poke fun at the way He died, then you evidently believe that He was once on this earth and He was real. You can't ridicule a death if you don't believe the person ever existed and was alive to begin with. i/e you have to be alive before you can die. Jesus was alive in human form and His human form was killed/murdered by the hands of others. The two being the same and then another making three thing... Look at it like a team concept. There are 5 basketball players on the floor at the same time composing one team. The New Your Knicks have five individual players on the court at one time. They are five different men, different abilities, different talents, an individual of himself. But, they compose a team. They aren't playing for themselves, they are playing as a team. When the game is over the sports news doesn't say each of the separate players won the game. They say the team won the game. God (sort of like a team) consists of three Gods or Godheads, separate beings. 1=God the Father, 2=God the Son (Jesus.) 3=God the Holy Spirit. Three Gods/beings...one God. Illegitimate? No. That's why it's called immaculate conception. Read the words of Mary herself when this took place. Demigod means mythological and less than a god (or in this case, God.) Jesus wasn't mythical. Eastern history refers to Him, other, non-Christian religions refer to Him, and of-course the Bible/Christian tells the real story of Him. Jesus is no myth. Less than god/God? I think not. How does a lesser do miracles? Not just tricks or slight of hand, but miracles. How is one put to death in front of witnesses but come back to life three days later? How does one pull off rising out of view, through the clouds and back to Heaven? This too, was done in front of witnesses. Did the scoffers find someone that could fly and fake it? No. Your story is just that, a story, a fabrication, a lie mafe up by someone wanting to discredit Jesus and ridicule Christianity. Why try to poke fun of something, someone that came to save you?

it is going to in no way ensue yet sure...i could be occupied with it. Do i think of those rules could exist? sure, by way of fact they only did a sprint over a hundred years in the past. You bypass returned to the previous due 1800's and you will see that there have been rules against sodomy, homosexuality, cussing in public, premarital intercourse and etc. They very infrequently have been given divorced returned interior the 1800's. i'm speaking very uncommon. My mom divorced my Dad interior the early 1950's and that became uncommon returned then. Now that could be a guessing recreation as to how long human beings will stay married. Divorce is elementary place now. the only one i could have a project with is the thought in pagan religions. that could be a loose united states and has continually been whilst it is composed of WHAT faith i desire. If human beings don't have freedom of religion then i ought to a minimum of sooner or later be arrested for MY faith.

I understand exactly what you're saying and the analogy you're making. What you're saying makes sense to me, but it doesn't parallel Jesus Christ because he was not illegitimate, as Mary and Joseph married before He was born; He did not commit suicide because He couldn't and didn't hoist Himself up on the cross; He clearly stated His purpose in coming to earth was the abolish the rules and regulations of the Law; and lastly, He clearly taught the doctrine commonly known as the Trinity not monotheism. Some of your other comments, such as the ones regarding demigod and blasphemy and spook are your own words and your own opinions, and you are entitled to them so I won't address them. I don't know what a "spook" is anyway. So the bottom line is what you're saying makes sense, but it doesn't make sense to me in the context of Christianity. You already knew that, though, right?

They wouldn't say anything about how that person is wrong but they'd say what they think and leave you to choose for yourself. For example, I believe that there aren't two gods, and Jesus wasn't a demigod per say, he's more of an angel. God sent his son to save us from NOT following the rules. He made us able to live an imperfect life and still come out on top. If you read the bible it gives more details, and if you're too lazy to read that there's always the book of Mormon which is much smaller. The more I understood about it the more I thought about how cool that is. But usually people don't listen to Mormons because of the simplicity of our beliefs. But it's your choice. First of all you could have worded this with some respect if you wanted a respectful answer. Using inflammatory language is just showing your disrespect while expecting some kind of response. Second, Do you really want an answer to your questions or do you just want to antagonize and pretend you got another one over on the Christians who you think you are smarter than? Third check out the works of C.S. Lewis, Lee Strobel, and Malcomb Muggeridge. All 3 of these highly educated men ( master's degrees and PhD's) were first atheists and then by looking into Christianity and its claims became Christians. Of course, that would require an open mind. Are you up for it ?

The way you pose the question does not make sense. But it's refreshing to see that you are trying to understand.

First of all, Jesus was not illegitimate. His mother was Mary, and his father was God. He did not commit suicide. He was killed by crucifixion, kind of like a death sentence in an illegal trial. Jesus on Earth was not His Father. The Trinity is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Jesus was the Son, and was of the flesh on Earth. At the Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was made available to all who believed in Jesus.

I realize it is difficult to understand when you take it out of context, and if you are not educated in the Christian religion. I would only accuse you of blasphemy if you were trying to provoke me. As a Christian, I prefer to pray for you. I hope you are truly trying to make sense of a complicated situation.

Good Luck and God Bless.

Worshippers of the demigods go to the demigods, the worshippers of the ancestors go to the ancestors, and the worshippers of the ghosts go to the ghosts, but God's devotees come to God, and are born again.

“Lobbying is a constitutionally protected activity because the opposite of lobbying is to treat public officials as demigods.”
