In Taiwan we do say "謝謝 (xie xie)", but that is Mandarin, not Taiwanese (I would prefer to call it Hokkien instead, since the language itself comes from the Fujien province of China). We say "多謝 (to sia)". The t in "to" is more like the D sound in English, and the O is like the A in the English word "wall". "Sia" is pronounced almost like the X sound in xiexie. Both characters are pronounced with a low, flat tone.
In Japanese, it is "arigatou (ありがとう)." The R is pronounced the same as the letter L in English. The G is more like the French G, and "to" is pronounced like the "ta" in "tall", but it's rather rounder.
