I had a membership there, it's really easy but I dont think you lose much weight. Of course you need diet and exercise but I dont think the workout there cuts it. Yes like the last person said you dont even break a sweat so it's not hard but you need to sweat. All the curves workout does is keep you moving for a little while, nothing more. It is cheap though so if you feel like doing something go for it. I always say the best exercise is right outside your door, you can go walking, jogging, or running...which may be a little hard on your knees. That workout is free, and works wonders as long as you stick to it.

A couple of weeks ago, I visited my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. (My husband and his father went on a trip to see a couple of baseball games and the Baseball Hall of Fame.) One morning I went with my MIL and SIL to run some errands and she dropped my SIL off at Curves while she went to the bank next door. I went in to see if I could use the restroom. (My eight and a half month pregnant belly was sitting on the bladder filled with about 16-20 ounces of water and as much coffee.) When I went out to find my MIL, I couldn't, so I sat in the lobby of Curves, while my SIL was in there. To me, the machines looked very low impact and as said, one wasn't on them long until the recorded voice on the intercom said something about changing stations. I probably got more of a workout with yoga and walking two hours a day (both free as the yoga was from a TV show, "Inhale", which is on Oxygen and we do technically pay for the cable, but still more free) and also walking two miles a day. I walked in my neighborhood, so that was completely free.
My SIL says she's losing weight from Curves, but she would also do well if she cut out the pure junk she consumes, too. (That same morning, as she often does, she had a large chocolate muffin from the coffee shop and the shops equivalent to a Frappuccino. I just had plain, black coffee-- half decaf, half regular.)
After my baby is born, and I'm permitted to start working out, I'm just going to go to the libraries (my town library, the Columbus, OH library, and the university library) and find some DVDs. Seeing that they're from the library, they'll be free and I have plenty of room in my living room. Also, I don't have to worry about finding somebody to care for the baby if my husband is in class or working. I can also join the university gym, which is very nice and new for the student price, being that my husband is a student. (He's attending one of the U's affiliated grad schools.)
See if you can take a tour, even a free session just to check it out.

I belong to Curves, it works if you are willing to do the work. The exercises seem easy but that is because the machines give resistance according to the resistance you give the machines. If you don't work hard, you will not sweat nor will you see results...like any other fitness program. Also, I don't use it as my primary source of exercise. It can and should be just a portion of your fitness regime. Pilates, walking or yoga would be a good addition to this program.

My sister joined before and said it was a joke. You don't get much time on each piece of equipment to really "work" anything. She said you're all in a circle and you rotate on different machines at intervals of maybe one minute. I'd join a regular gym or aerobics class.

I went for a year and it didn't help at all. I could never work up a sweat or get my cardio up, it was the biggest waste of money. I think that it would be great for older women and men who really can't take that hard of a workout.
