Eponine from Les Mis must be played by someone with an amazing alto voice. When I hear it, I cry. Also, anything from Hello Dolly and Anything Goes. Reno Sweeney (from Anything Goes) is also an alto part and depending on the style of song, there are very nice ones that could be sung. "I Get A Kick" is a slow one and "Take Me Back to Manhattan" is sultry. I played Reno in high school and had a lot of fun singing the songs. Good luck with whatever you find though!

I don't believe this song is from a Broadway play but there is a great song called The Alto's Lament and it's all about how this girls been in all these shows but always has to sing the boring alto line of all these famous songs and that she wants to be able to sing the melody just once. A Broadway actress named Emily Skinner sings it on an album titled Unsuspecting Hearts that she did with another Broadway actress named Alice Ripley.

Alto's Lament is composed by Goldrich and Heisler, whom also composed "Taylor, the Latte Boy". Neither song are from Broadway shows, but both have a great musical theatre feel with a lot of character. However, Alto's Lament is not currently available for purchase.
As for other great musical theatre songs for an Alto -- I would look into the "The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology for Mezzo-Soprano/Belter" The books are published by Hal Leonard and sell for $19.95. You'll find that almost all the songs will fit right into your voice range. The list of songs are at www.halleonard.com and those will all be great choices.

Memories from Cats
"Midnight, not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight the withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan
Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again
Every street lamp seems to beat
A fatalistic warning
Someone mutters and a streetlamp gutters
And soon it will be morning
Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I mustn’t give in
When the dawn comes tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin
Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale cold smell of morning
The streetlamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning
Touch me, it’s so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me, you’ll understand what happiness is
Look, a new day has begun"

You've gotten some great answers already, another couple songs I might suggest- "Still Hurting" from The Last 5 Years for a newer show, or if the show you are auditioning for is more of a classic show, perhaps You'll Never Walk Alone from Carousel.
Remember know your song well! Practice...
Sing out, and act out your song larger than life!
Have a great audition.

Try "Always the Bridesmaid, Never the Bride" from "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change". It's a comedy song, and fewer people will know it. It shows good range and you will probably be the only one who sings it.
