i know a lot of people want to know how to make their dog stop howling, but i want to know how to start the howling!

I would never want my dog to start howling. I have a friend that thought it was cute when his dog would howl when the dog heard sirens & now he wishes the dog never started !!!

My dog started howling on her own, mostly when I wasn't getting her dinner fast enough for her. I started saying "speak" when she did and now she'll do it on command. I also can get her to howl when I howl. It's pretty funny. My other dog won't howl but will make a little noise if I get her excited enough about joining in.

Be ware it may never stop. My brother either sings or
plays the harmonica and his dog howls. It stops when he
quits singing or playing the harmonica. I think it likes it tho.
Bones just looks at him waiting for him to start the music!

Try howling to get them to do it with you. Yes I have done this to my dog lol You could also try using a whistle with them around. That may work to.

When I howl my dog also dose it. Try it out.

I have a basset hound and I can carry a conversation with him by howling. I start by playing with him, by tapping his nose with his stuff animal and picking up his ears, stuff like that. Then once he starts barking I start barking and now I can bark and he will start to bark. It takes a lot of practice and patience. If I am cooking and ignoring him he usually starts to bark at me for attention, then I start to bark back. Just try barking back when he barks at you next and see what he does.
