Neither. We don't believe in most of the same things that either form of Christianity does. Check out the website listed by the first person that answered this, and then check out the one that I'm listing. They both will help to answer your questions, and will give you more info into what we believe.
*EDIT*
Just thought I would add that most of the people who are answering this question aren't LDS, so how do they know what we really believe? If you really want to know, email me. At least that way, you will be getting it straight from the source.

Neither. Maybe some kind of "new reformation" or something like that.
Mormans believe that God chose Joseph Smith to reestablish the Church of Jesus Christ after it had disappeared some 1,700 years earlier following the death of the first apostles. To complicate the picture somewhat, God’s biblical work was extended to the Americas somewhere around 2000 B.C. and continued here until A.D. 421. This is according to the Book of Mormon, the scriptures given to Joseph Smith on golden tablets by the Angel Moroni. American Indians are called Lamanites and are part of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel. Jesus came to preach to these Indians and for a long time there was a flourishing church here until it fell into apostasy, only to be restored, as the golden tablets foretold, by Joseph Smith. In addition to giving new scriptures, God commissioned Smith to revise the Bible, the text of which had been corrupted over the centuries by Jews and Christians. There are not that many traditional Christians that can buy into that!
Are Mormans Christians in the traditional sense? The emphatic and repeated answer of the Mormon scriptures and the official teaching of the LDS is that they are not. "Other" Christians are members of "the great and abominable church" that was built by frauds and imposters after the death of the first apostles.

The LDS church believes that the true church fell away from the Earth and that an angel Moroni needed to give gold plates to Joseph Smith to correct all the errors in the bible, they sometimes use the bible but when galatians 1:8 is mentioned, accept no doctrine from man or angels they like to say that is one of the corrupted passages in the bible. I live in a heavily LDS community and missionaries have told me this on many occasions. I am not LDS but I have read the Book of Mormon, Doctrines and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. So I am qualified to give an educated opinion. I am still waiting for someone from the LDS church to explain galatians 1:8 so they are neither Protestant or Gnostic they feel that those teachings were corrupted.

Mormonism doesn't exactly fit in with traditional Gnostic Christianity (for starters we don't accept the Gnostic Gospels). OTOH, Mormonism at least suggests that we have truths hidden to the rest of the world (such as the temple ceremonies), and possessing hidden knowledge is core to Gnosticism.
But Mormonism generally doesn't classify itself as Protestant, either. Most Protestant denominations began because their founders found something specific wrong about the mother sect. Since Mormonism didn't break off any other sect or denomination, I'm not sure it can truthfully be classified as Protestant.

Neither. maybe some variety of "new reformation" or something like that. Mormans have self assurance that God chosen Joseph Smith to reestablish the Church of Jesus Christ after it had disappeared some a million, seven hundred years till now following the death of the 1st apostles. To complicate the image quite, God’s biblical paintings became prolonged to the Americas someplace around 2000 B.C. and endured right here till A.D. 421. that's in accordance to the e book of Mormon, the scriptures given to Joseph Smith on golden pills by utilising the Angel Moroni. American Indians are mentioned as Lamanites and are area of the ten lost Tribes of Israel. Jesus got here to evangelise to those Indians and for an prolonged time there became a flourishing church right here till it fell into apostasy, in basic terms to be restored, by way of fact the golden pills foretold, by utilising Joseph Smith. as properly to giving new scriptures, God commissioned Smith to revise the Bible, the text textile of that have been corrupted over the centuries by utilising Jews and Christians. There are no longer that many classic Christians that could purchase into that! Are Mormans Christians interior the classic experience? The emphatic and repeated answer of the Mormon scriptures and the solid coaching of the LDS is they are no longer. "different" Christians are contributors of "the large and abominable church" that became equipped by utilising frauds and imposters after the death of the 1st apostles.

We are not a Protestant religion since we didn't "protest" against the Catholic church and break away. I haven't heard the term Gnostic Christianity so I can't comment.
We are a Christian religion because we believe in Christ. We believe that the authority to act in the make of God was lost when the apostles were killed. (The Bishops did not have the power to ordain other Bishops.) The TRUE church had to be restored. This happened in 1830.

I don't know exactly where it fits, but to see people saying they are crazy or a cult or anything else disrespectful is just plain wrong. We are suppose to love everyone, not just those that fit in to our corner of the world. How can anyone say they are Christian and still be so judgemental and hurtful? I just don't get it!

um no....if you want to know bout them why dont you go to their sight?
to "budleit2" Galatians 1:8 " But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."
The point here is that the gospel was restored....the SAME exact gospel that had been restored in previous dispensations. This was no new gospel, but the same gospel even Jesus Christ himself established upon the earth when he lived, through the priesthood authority he possessed.
I commend you for reading the Book of Mormon. But there are a million reasons why not to believe the things the missionaries taught you. But there is only ONE way to find out, and thats to ask God. :)

Gnostic. Pure gnosticism. "Gnostic" from the Greek "know". Jos. Smith supposedly received advanced "knowledge" - the very heart of "gnosticism".
And it's not Christian. Different God. "Another Jesus, another "gospel"

Neither it is a bastardization of a mono/neotheistic cult.
They believe in one god, yet every man has the capacity to become a god.
