in the state of california, when a person signs to accept a drivers license & the responsibilities that go with it, they are stating they will submit to testing (breath, blood, urine, physical) meant to determine their current driving ability or impairment. i believe a refusal warrants immediate revocation-not suspension-for at least six months. i would imagine the other 49 states are not far off. the status of the license is decided by the DMV, not the courts, although a resulting court case may take jurisdiction(like if the cop found other evidence or will testify to indicators of being under the influence). check with your states DMV, it may or may not be a set minumum/maximum or mandatory/discretionary amount of time.

Yes zero tolerance law also if someone over 21 refuses to take the test their license is revoked for a year automatically. The penalties are stiffer if you are under 21 though.

In Arizona if you refuse to take a breath test and/or FST. then you'll lose your Drivers Lic. for 1 year plus the police will get at warrent to draw blood and will get your BAL from the blood test. so in the end you'll have a extra year added on to your suspended lic. sentence. so insted of 6 months it will be 1 year and 6 months... just do what the officer says plain in simple !!!!!!

Refusing a field sobriety test will leasd to arrest and a blood test. In most states, any amount of alcohol is considered DUI for underage and will result in a loss of driving priviledges for from six months to a year or more.

each state has specific timelines for refusal. I think the shortest I have seen is 6 months.

Do not take the test.
Yes, they will take away your license, to be sure. But they are going to do that anyway/
If you don't take the test, there will be no blood or breath evidence to use against you!
That will make it easier for your lawyer to try and get you license back.
