Who have you been listening to?
Catholics have never treated any pope as God.
We treat him as our senior pastor.
John 21:15-17 states:
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep.
Matthew 16:17-19 states:
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
The Catholic Church believes the Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock.
The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.
The Pope’s main roles include teaching, sanctifying, and governing.

With love in Christ.

no, because a 'new God' would imply a different god, and the definition of reincarnation is that it is the same soul or 'being' that is put into a new body.
of course your question is fundamentally flawed because that is not how the Catholic church treats each Pope (perhaps you were thinking of the Dalai Lama) but you probably knew that. so good for you! you made your little dig against the Catholic church! it was illiterate, but a good try! have a good day!

Catholics do not treat the pope as if he were a new God. The pope is the earthly stuart of the Jesus' Kingdom on Earth. Jesus in still the High Priest of the Catholic Church.

Catholics do no longer cope with the Pope like he's a god. Catholics do no longer say that Mary is a god or God or above Jesus. Catholics do no longer "create" saints. The Pope is greater "important" than the different individual by way of fact he's the earthly head of the Church. the different questions?

We do not see the pope as a God or any form of reincarnation, he is seen as a descendant of peter who preached Jesus es message of hope and salvation nothing more.

i've been Catholic all my life and even met the former pope and he has NEVER been treated as a new God - you see in the Catholic church we are taught there is only ONE God - our Father in heaven.

I think it's more like they view the Pope as god's messenger on earth -- which is pretty weird. I wonder if he's got internet in there yet.
