What go you think of folks that get those large tattoos - on their backs - chest etc..?
I don't have any - but I think small ones that are tasteful look ok.

i think that we are just fine thank you very much. what do you think of us? apparently not very highly or you wouldn't ask such a question. the fact is that there are many of us here on this forum who have very large nicely done tattoos and we are awesome. we have good jobs and normal families as well as mundane every day lives. the stereotype that is so often projected on us is absolutely ridiculous.

i also think that we are committed to our passion for art and ink. we thought about the commitment of time, pain and money and decided that we would adorn our bodies regardless of the possible ridicule and snide comments and attitudes from other people who may belittle us because of our choices.

and contrary to common belief that we get these large tattoos for attention or to look tough or cool is just not the case. most of the time a large tattoo tells a story about the person or their life and it is something that obviously means enough to permanently mark it on our body in such a major way.

i am the proud owner of a lovely back piece and am a better person for it.

LArge or small tattoos are a matter of taste. and everyone has a different definition of what is small and what is large.
I don not think that a question like that is a question of fact, it a question of opinion. and with tattoos becoming widely popular in the world today large tattoos are concidered very pleasing to the eye to some people. Then again there is the question of content in tattoos and what is good an what is bad. but thats a whole other topic

i love large tattoos! my next tattoo (after done breastfeeding my baby) is either going to be to start my sleeve or my chest piece. not one of those little roses right above my boob, but a large piece that goes across my upper chest, below my neck. i say the larger the better- way more detail and shading can be done in a large tattoo.

Does it really matter what other people think? Tattoos are all personal choice, big, small, type of design etc, or whether to have one or not.
All as I know is, people with tattoos are probably some of the least judgmental people I know when it comes to a personal or lifestyle choice.

I am not so arrogant that I would pass judgement on other people's perceptions of art.

I've never been a sleeve or backpiece person for myself (although some people may classify my tattoos as large), but I have a deep appreciation for a beautiful piece, regardless of size, or whether or not I'd want it for myself.

To each his own, but personally I think it's gross. You never know where life is going to lead you, therefore I have a tattoo in an area that I can expose if I choose, or not if necessary. ie: at a job interview, at a wedding, etc...

I prefer smaller ones because they're less likely to keep you from getting a job... of course if you're going to get one on your back I suppose it wouldn't matter unless you take your shirt off at work. Also, smaller ones can still look tasteful, whereas bigger ones tend to look biker-ish. I dunno, maybe I'm old-fashioned, but there you are.

I have one of these "large" ones you speak of. Obviously, I love them.
