I had one years ago. He was a big lovable clown. He got along great with everyone and all the animals, two horses, a pony, a goat, chickens and the pigs. He would chase the cats and I don't think he would have known what to do if he caught one. We had a big old tom cat that wouldn't play the game. Barny would go running at the tom and he would not move. It was so funny to see that 90 lb dog come to a screeching halt.
They do require a bit of grooming. Living on a farm even with the grooming he would still get matted and we had him shaved every spring. Which leads to my next story. Ever wonder how they can see with all that hair in front of their eyes? Well, they can't. Before we moved to the country when I would take him for a walk he, like all dogs, had his nose to the ground and would walk into power poles and hedges. After we moved to the country he had free roam and never ran off with the other dogs. That was until spring when he got clipped and he was gone with the other two. Then his hair grew back out and he could not see very good so he stayed home.
His thing when I was outside he would come to me and sit his 90 lbs on my foot.

Go to the AKC web site and read about them.

If you want more information, go to the library and read about them. Go to some dog shows and talk with some of the breeders.
