It could mean lots of things , I suggest you have the codes read and find out what the problem is , I could run down a list of things but it would coast lots of money, just get them read and address the one or two problems. hope this helps.

Sorry man that could be 1000 different things, the main thing would be the gas tank cap, sometimes the gasket gets messed up and that culd cause a pressure problem and that could be it, or maybe it's just loose, check that, and maybe it will come off, the other thing, you can disconect the battery terminal, wait 2 minutes put it back in and then try to see what happen. Last thing!!! Take it to an Auto Zone, Discount Auto Parts and they can check from the computer in your car for free, they will give you a report (diferent codes, numbers) and they can tell you what they mean, other than that, you'll have to take it the a mechanic.
Hope this help.

To a Mechanic... Get Thee hence!!!
Darlin - never ignore a "Check Engine" light.
It is a sign of impending disaster if you delay - no matter what.
It sould be anything from a sensor gone bad to problems with the oil, to any number of things.
Protect yourself.
Do not pass go - Do not collect $200.00.
Get to a Mechanic, pronto!
Peace.

roll by a autozone and they can check the code for you. It could be a O2 sensor, or something else. But the code scan is a free service.
Please note that the code that comes up may not be the problem

Check your gas cap. Most common cause. Take it to Auto Zone while the light is lit and they will diagnose it free.
