Hello everyone, my name is Kayci, I'm 17 and expecting a child in February. Yeah, a ways off I know, but I've got questions now!! I'm no longer with the jerk who got me pregnant which is a good thing, he was trying to control me. But anyhow, when does he start paying child support, I know it is when the child is born, but should I be contacting someone over how much he is to pay and things like that. To be honest the reason I'm trying to find out is that I hope child support is too high for him and he doesn't want to be involved with my child. He is 16 but will be 17 when the child is born. And he does work, I hope someone knows some answers to this. Thank you so much.

Child support goes off of both incomes. I would go to your local Child Support office to get the paper work started. Hope this helps. And congrats.

First ingore all the idoits who are saying you shouldn't be pregnant. Its a little late to change that fact, kwim.

This is what you need to do, contact your local child support office, to get the paper work started. Once the baby is born paternity will need to be proven, this will go through the state and you won't have to pay for it, however when it comes back that the child is his, he will have to pay for the test (atleastin VA thats how it worked). Then they take into consideration both incomes and figure out how much he will have to pay the min. amount is 65 dollars a month (again in VA). And if you suspect that he won't pay all the time, then request to have his paycheck garnished. Also request that the child be put on his insurance once he has a job that has insurance.

It takes two, as previously stated, you shoudln't have to do it alone.

First of all I don't see how it's all his fault on you being pregnant--I do believe you participated in having sex.
If you're still living at home chances are your parents insurance is going to pay your medical expenses. If not then chances are you've applied for medical assistance/Medicaid. That will be something you'll end up doing after the baby is born and then child support issues will come up then.
I do hope you work and continue an education to also help support this child.

First you will have to prove paternity. Then you have to file on him. Which means they will set a court date to determine child support. It goes by what he makes.
I have a son from a previous relationship my ex-husband fought me for 2 years on all of it. He pays 800 a month for one child, but he makes quite a bit. Maybe that helps a little. Good Luck :)

Once the child is born, you will have to prove paternity. After which, the court will determine the amount of support, usually a third of his weekly income.

first off, you sound way to mentaly imature to be having kids. second off, no where in your rambling do you show any care for the childs well being as far as having a father around. Maybe next time when you get ready to spread your legs without wearing protection you will think of someone other than your self. hope you get your child support though. god only knows the money will be in good hands..
