I don't get the impression that you fly a specific airline. If you did..usually the airline will have a credit card you can use to earn miles to use on that specific airline.
From what I understand, you want a airline reward credit card where you can earn miles to redeem for airfare on any airline. There are some factors you need to consider when shopping for this kind of card:
Blackout Dates: your going to probably want a credit card with no blackout dates. the cards that have these limit the days you can redeem your miles. You'll probably want no blackout days so you can fly whenever you want.
Points Expiration: there are some airmile credit cards out there where the points/miles you accumulate expire. The good air reward credit cards let you keep your miles and they never expire.
Bonus Points: many airline mile credit cards offer you bonus points when you join, and if you're a first time card member.
Annual fee: many airline mile credit cards charge an annual fee. you have to decide if paying one will be worth the rewards you earn.
Check out the websites below. They list many airline mile credit cards. since you asked for a credit card you can earn miles to redeem on any airline..I would recommend the Citi® PremierPass® Card (if you have good credit), the Miles by Discover® Card (if you have an excellent credit history) or the Blue Sky® from American Express (good credit). These credit cards meet the cretria I listed above and are the most popular airmiles credit cards you can use on any airline.
I hope this helps.

Depends where you live, and what airline you fly. If you live near an airport hub for an airline, likely that would be best.
Here in Detroit, we are a hub for Northwest and Northwest flights are most convenient for me, so I like the Northwest Visa. It gives you 1 mile per $1 you charge, but the annual fee is quite high. I know American and United (hub in Chicago) both have similar cards, and likely other airlines as well.

There are plenty. Most airlines have credit cards that manage by bank such as BOA or Citibank. Airlines such as Alaska airlines, American airlines, Delta, Hawaiian airlines, United airlines, Asianna Airlines, US airways, British airways, Mexicana airlines etc... However, you have to pay an annual fee between $75-90 to use them.

I like the AmEx Blue Sky card because it pays 1.33% on all spending ($100 per $7500 spent) and you can apply the earnings to any airline, any hotel, any vehicle renter, etc.
You might also consider cash back cards like AmEx Blue Cash, Chase Freedom, and Citi Professional, since those pay quite good rewards as cash (which of course can be used for tickets or anything else).
To see which credit card will pay you the most in rewards for your normal spending profile, you can use this rewards calculator:
http://www.creditcardtuneup.com/
The calculator converts all reward currencies (miles, points, cash) to dollars for easy apples-to-apples comparison.
