Yes, I just seen something on the news about it, they said it costs about 60.00 dollars for the simple one the tests 45 differnt breeds and about 115.00 for the one the tests for more breeds.

Anyone who is very familiar with cattle dogs can probably give you an educated guess but that is all it would be. DNA testing is prohibitively expensive just for breed identification and then it can only tell you if one dog is related to another - it does not specify breed.

If it's a good dog - it doesn't matter what the breed is - just enjoy! If you are curious because the dog is experiencing behavior problems, then you need to consult a behavior specialist. I have raised cattle dogs for many years and they have been from the very good to the very Taliban! These are active, working dogs who get bored easily and a bored cattle dog is a destructive cattle dog.

Good luck to you!

A lot of working ranch dogs are a mix of several breeds, a lot of times from random breeding (common on ranches in my area - a little heeler, a little Aussie, etc.). You can have DNA testing done on them for about $75 per dog, but if it were me, I'd assume they are mix of common herding breeds - Australian Cattle Dog, Australian Shepherd and maybe Border Collie if they are common in your area.

The only way to really know for sure what breeds your dog is with the DNA test like everyone has suggested. I learned something.....I thought they would be more expensive. Who knew!

as long as they are doing a good job why worried about the breed of them.. what do they look like the most.. and make a guess of it.. or maybe a vet can do a dna test but it wont be cheap.. but you could call around and ask ..

there are afew test now but it's about $65 or more and that's per pup as each one can actually have a different father.
Other than that there is no way of finding our also teh test they have don't test for all breeds yet so you may spend money and not know even after the test.

You can take them to a vet, but they can only tell you the dominant breed.

There's no cheap way to tell for sure. And without pictures no one can even guess. Best thing would be to go to the people you got them from and ask what their parents were best of their knowledge. But does it really matter?
