It may or may not be a big change.

The Base Curve figure is a fitting guide, like shoe sizes,
but it's only reliable within one range of contact lenses, as (just like shoes) other elements of the design can lead to a very different fit.

One 8.4 may not fit the same as an 8.4 from another manufacturer, due to different central optical diameter, overall diameter, peripheral curves (or asphericity) or the relative rigidity of the material...

A different brand, even when likely to be an equally successful fit, really requires a trial lens for assessment.

(Even though modern thin lenses are quite forgiving and quite a few are produced on a "one size fits all" basis. "One size fits most middle of the road people" would be more accurate, but doesn't make such a good advertising slogan )

It's not that big of a change. However, it's not a change that only you can make. Your eye doctor has to see the contact on your eye to see how well it fits. If he/she gives the okay, then go for it. If he/she doesn't, it may not work for you.

You cannot legally change this yourself. This is a prescribed RX parameter. It might not be a big deal, but it might be. It depends on the measurements that the Doctor took of your eyes.

too many factors to know if a chnage from 8.4 to 8.3 is do-able or dangerous.

modulus, diameter, material, thickness, water content, etc etc

It is a big change. Consider how small your eyes are. A .1mm difference can be huge.
