Would blood received from a female to a male during a blood transfusion result in gaining female charateristics by receiving female hormones even though for a short time.and would a female receiving a blood transfusion from a male receive male hormones resulting in likewise results.

Hormones are short-lived mediators. They do not last long. Blood is also broken down into components, filtered and processed. All one gets are the specific blood products desired: blood cells, FFP, platelets, cryoprecipitate and specific factors. On some occasions, usually with children, whole blood is used; however, there are no hormones present.

Hormones get denaured during storage if hole blood is transfused. Hormones are lost if target organs do not exist.

The effect would be negligible. NOT a concern at all with blood transfusions. MD Hematology
