Probably, it seems rather sadistic to make the child punish themself instead of doing it for them. Rather lazy too. Very strange, i've never heard of that before. And it's hard to spank oneself, it would hurt less than a spanking given by a parent and would be less effective. I should know because i spank myself often, it can be hard to make it hurt much. By the way, i don't think there's anything wrong with spanking in general, this just seems a bit strange.

Why do you aks anyway? Have your parents ever done that to you? Do you do that to your children? Have you heard about making a child spank themself before?

How do you make a child spank themself? I belive that spanking in only extreme cases are o.k. but not for something that is minor. I would never have a child hit themselves. I dont even know how to answer this really. It's an interesting questions. I've never heard of anyone who makes their child hit themself as a punishment.

Ummm yeah ... GOOD ONE. WHATEVER. Making a CHILD spank himself? Your child is just abusing himself. WHY would you let a child abuse himself? That isn't right, there are alternatives to violence towards themselves and other people abusing him. GET WITH IT MAN. My son has never been spanked, because I COMMUNICATE with my son. Seems like Communication is a lost art these days.

It is pathological mental and emotional abuse.
And much more damaging than a mild spanking, in the long run.
I never heard of such idiocy before. So when the kid grows up to be a self-harmer or suicidal, at least you will know why.

Personally I don't see the need for the rude and hurtful comments. maybe you just asked because you were just trying to come up with a better way to decipline your child. That may not be it but because you asked does not mean you did it. And I don't think that is the right way to decipline your child, try taking something he/she values for a little while or something of that nature.

Well, if they spanked themselves, it wouldn't really hurt, would it? Besides, they can also control their own hand movement, so they could hit their butts as hard as they want? That's a really lousy punishment.

there are better ways surely?its definitely very bizarre and i wouldn't make my kids do it. have u tried a naughty step or naughty chair?put them on/in for a minute for each year of their life and they'll soon learn that whatever behaviour they have just displayed is unacceptable.god knows i have been close to smacking my kids when they have really got up my nose but smacking doesn't teach them how to behave.try a time out in their bedroom as well. again a minute for each year of their life and keep the door closed until they have calmed down and u are able to reason with them. its hard to do but it really does work well.

Where the hell did you come up with this idea!? I think this is the most bizzare form of bunishment I have ever heard. I wouldn't do it. This rates right up there with children who punish themselves by cutting their flesh. Or crap this makes me think of self-flogging that some over zealous religious fanatics do.

yes! why would someone be so retard to make a child spank himself, thats unfair and humilating for the kid.
just make him write 50 times, i wont do....so and so..
or cut down his allowance, dont let him watch his favourite show or something like that but dont get physical with a child, it is not good for his emotional health you will alter his confidence and personality
