In your opinion what is the best tapeworm medicine out there for cats?

Any over the counter brand that contains praziquantel (brand name Droncit). Been around for years, works great, very safe. Dose according to weight. Get it from vet or pet store--doesn't matter.

There is no over-the-counter treatment for tapeworms on the market. You must get the medication from your vet, whichever one he/she recommends as they are all very good. The only thing you need to know is that all these medications treat the tapeworms that your cat currently has. Most cats get tapeworms from swallowing fleas that carry the tapeworm larva. If your cat swallows a flea the day after treating tapeworms, they will be back. It will be best to also treat for fleas. The only other source of tapeworms is if your cat is catching and eating mice.

Tape worm medicine is not sold in stores only through a vet. Don't buy any over the counter worming medicine as they don't work. The store brands will only list for round worm and that's debatable if it gets rid of them. It won't get rid of tape worm.

The best medicine is the one the vet gives the cat- it's a simple vaccine and doesn't cost much at all. None of the one's from the store that claims to work, actually works. Go to the vet.

At our clinic we use Droncit which comes in tablets or injection. Or Cestoved the generic brand. This medication is prescribe by your vet. Just drop a line to your vet and as long as they have a current weight you can just pick it up. You may have to go in depending on your vet.
