hello. i have been having hang nails on my skin for a long time and was just wondering what was the best pain free way of getting rid of them (other than letting them heal by themselves haha)

How to Get Rid of Hangnails

Shortly after washing the dishes or taking a bath, your cuticles will be soft. This is the best time to groom them. Some nail files have a wedge shape on the end for this purpose, or you can use what is known as an orangewood stick.

Gently push the cuticles back (towards the knuckle) by pushing the orangewood stick down at the base of the nail. That's it. If you don't push the cuticles back, the skin stretches as the nail grows, and breaks, creating hangnails.

***TIP***
Some people put lotion on the cuticles to keep the skin supple.

I hope this was helpful,Take Care!!! :)

There is an instrument for trimming cuticles(not scissors) it is excellent for hang nails. Got mine over thirty years ago and would not do without it.

I put clear fingernail polish on them while they heal and they seem to clear up a lot faster . Pushing on dry cuticles seem to make them worse.

rub a little lotion on it and it shouldn't hurt as bad or you can clip it close to the bottom of the hang nail.
