I just put on my top back molar a crown..not sure if it is a crown, but it is like a metal thing that covers my tooth...but it has been very sensitive. It has been abt a week, and i went to eat hot pot (hot soup) yesterday, and it was hurting....is it normal? Does it take a long time to normalize?

It sounds like you have a stainless steel crown....

Call your dentist and get an appointment to have the crown recemented back on. If the tooth is sensitive with the crown in place, it may need to have the occlusion adjusted so it fits better.

You may have an xray taken to rule out (or confirm) an abscess in it's beginning stages.

Good Luck!

GO BACK TO THE DENTIST WHO DID THE WORK AND TELL HIM THE PROBLEM. THE CROWN MAY BE A PERMANENT ONE AND THERE WAS SOME GUM RECESSION AROUND THE TOOTH OR IT MAY BE A STAINLESS STEEL CROWN, WHICH ISN'T MEANT TO LAST FOREVER OR IT MAY BE A TEMPORARY METAL CROWN.
ANY OF THESE REQUIRES PARTICULAR TREATMENT.
