i've been doing a lot of thinking about this lately, and let's say that hypothetically that i wanted to commit suicide. since it's my life, shouldn't i have the right to end it if i wanted to? think about that for a minute. if i did say that i wanted to kill myself, most people would tell me that i shouldn't, and even worse. they would put me up in some mental ward at some hospital to try to stop me from doing it. what gives them the right to do that? as i said, it's MY life. i'm the one who's going to have to live it. not them. i should be the one who gets to decide when it ends.
and if someone has a mental illness, and they're not a threat to anyone else other than themselves, we shouldn't force them to get 'help' if they don't want it. (the mental health system in this country is a joke anyway). trust me, if they don't want help, it's not going to work anyway.
finally, this is coming from someone who has been down this road more than once before. so take it from me.

and just one other thing; i'm not at all suggesting that anyone kill themselves, nor that they should. i'm just stating what i think.
also, if someone came up to me and told me that they were contemplating suicide, and asked me if they should do it, i would tell them 'i don't know'. because i don't live their life. they do. they're the ones who'll have to live it. not me. so i shouldn't get a say in the matter.

i also don't think that it matters that 'the ones who love me are the ones who suffer'. i don't doubt they would, but again, they're not the ones who have to live my life. I DO.
i also don't think suicide is a selfish act at all. think about this: which is more selfish, ending your life, or forcing someone to live their life when they don't want to so you don't have to be saddened by their death?

It's your life and you are the one who will NOT be living it ' Death is permanent. No changing your mind !
I hope you are not thinking of wasting this opportunity at life.
Give it to someone else if you don't want it . There must be so many places that could use your mind, hands ,energy, reading ability ---I could go on -and so could you .

You make rational statements but they are not reasonable. By the same token I could say the world is over populated therefore everyone who commits suicide is helping the world. Again it is rational but not reasonable. If a person wants to commit suicide and has the experience to make it work they can probably do it. Many years ago a man put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. The problem was he only took out a part of his brain leaving him a physical vegetable and burden to society for his care but with a clear mind. Some overdose on drugs and come back half way but not fully conscious. Throw yourself in front of a train and lose only your feet or legs? You need experiece to be successful and always someone else is going to be burdened with your stupidity.

I need to admit you have a point. Sadly, we live in a world that is so acward, it's very hard to live in it. We encounter people who don't care, who's nousy, who's trouble, unfair laws, ridiculous governments, dirty systems, it sucks, man!!!
That's one of the reason we feel we can do whatever we want with ourselves, specially with our body, we feel is not worth to live anymore and we start thinking about our right to finish it, right?
We,, again, unfortunately, we also have a family that loves us, nieces ans nephews who think you are the "bestest" uncle, your sister who's friends think you are SSOOOO hot, and a Mom & Dad who will give their life for you.
These are the things that will steal your right to end yourself, because then you are showing you don't apreciatte their love and care. You show that you are a coward, who just ended himself in a very cowardy way. not caring about the pain caused to children and adults.
You still want to dissapear? tell your family you are going away for a period of time, just to adventure, and avoid any headaches you will give them by doing this while living with them. Be a man. don't be a menace, if you do something do it right. Far , far away...................

You chose this life - if you end your stay here prematurely you will have to come back (almost immediately) to do it all again under the same circumstances (or worse) and hopefully attain your alloted span - learning what you came here to learn - whatever that may be. Try getting professional help.

it should definatly b your choice! if your suffering so much u wish 2 end your life you should b allowed 2! being force 2 stay alive is a form of tourture in my opinion! i would say try a different option 1st but it really should b up 2 u and locking someone up in a mental hospital is just gonna make them more depressed so that would just b stupid!

the flaw witht he its my life ill end it if i want to arguement is that if you were ending your life, your not in your right mind to make that decision.
either
a) your looking at a very permenent answer to whats in reality a very temporary problem ( girls, money, crap like that)
or
b) your not mentally stable and your condition is pushing you towards suicide, an expmple would be schiztophrenics who remain untreated have a 10 % suicide rate , with treatment its drops signifigantly. for them its the disease behind that descision in reality.
as an RN who has worked in emergency rooms ill tell you also, the people who love you are the ones that suffer. they suffer if you suceed, but they really really suffer if you fail but manage to cus the O2 off to your brain for long enough to make yourself into a vegetable.
if we called these people the survivors then they would be the ones making laws, voting and such (since the victims of suicides killed themselves and dead people dont vote)...
lastly, no one is silly enough to think you couldnt kill yourself if you didnt want to. youve obviously got internet acess, if someone really really wanted to die no one could stop them. its the people who may not totally want to die or who can see that while they hate living today, they may want to be alive tomarrow. this is why people have hesitation marks before they cut thier wrists.
make sence?

If that is the case then shouldn't you be allowed to have a say whether you are born? It's not up to you to decide your ending just like you didn't choose your beginning

Yes, I believe you have the right. Life is hard. Sometimes the only thing that has kept me alive is the responsibility I have to my children...nothing else.
