Anyone can file any kind of lawsuit against anyone at any time. The thing being is whether you can win in a court of law. Whether you have enough evidence to persuade a jury or Judge to award your judgement is the question.

My mother, sister, brother, and I were all terrorized by my father. We all dealt with mental and physical abuse. My mother also dealt with his infidelity which eventually caused a divorce. we are now grown but the mental abuse still goes on including selling the family ranch so we cannot receive any inheritance. His third wife and he enjoy the money from the sale while we will get nothing. All of this said, I don't think there is anything we can do legally. Wish there was.

The law in this country, (USA), is you CAN sue anybody for anything. Filing that, is no problem. It's a problem when it goes to court, and you state your case, and attempt to win. You could sue your best friend neighbor, because they served you a cold cup of coffee. Stating your case, and winning is THE problem. You could sue Charmin because it isn't soft enough for you.
