I have begun to get a fatty build up where my chest curves into my upper arm (I think this is the pec muscles? not sure!). Wondering if weights or pushups will decrease this or make it worse? What other solutions are there?

push ups etc only build muscle - they dont burn fat and will make those areas look even bigger.
the only fat burning exercise is cardio - running, jogging, swimming, elliptical, hiking, rope jumping etc. 4-6 times a week for average of 45min.
diet is a key to fat loss so make healthy food choices and eat 5-6 small meals a day, 5-8 servings of fruit and veggies, at least 8 glasses of water and plenty of protein, healthy fats and complex carbs.

When we want to get rid of body fat, there is no way to specifically burn fat from one part of the body. Doing situps won't burn the fat that is covering your abs and doing tricep extensions won't get rid of the fat that is covering your triceps. The only thing you can do is lose weight all around and eventually the problem area will also improve. The way to burn fat is through a calorie restricted diet in conjunction with an exercise routine that will burn calories. Activities that burn calories include running, biking, swimming and other high intensity activities.

The only thing you can do is burn fat. There is no way to isolate fat burning. Your body decides where it will burn fat. Try doing push-ups with your feet on a bench hands on a bosu ball round part down, do 3 sets of 15. I started doing this I couldn't go past 10 I am now up to 20. Good Luck.

Try an "exertube" or bungee for working those areas, you can really isolate your workouts to the exact areas in need. Most come w/booklets to show you the different techniques. I use mine faithfully and am toned, not bulky. Their sold everywhere in the fitness sections and very cheap.
