obviously price range is not an issue for me.I'm in a cross between these pistols. I've done my research but still cant decide so i'm mainly looking for ppl with experience with each one. What are the ups and downs of each one? Which one would you reccomend for carry. Weight and size is also not an issue for me. I'm also open to new suggestions.

I want more details on the sig. If they are too expensive why does our government use them?

If I were you, I would go with the Sig or the Glock.

I personally prefer the Sig. With the DA/SA trigger action you don't have to worry with a safety. Simply push the decock lever and it safely drops the hammer. When you pull the weapon to fire you have a long 10lb pull on the first shot. All subsequent shots are 4.5lbs until you push the decock lever and drop the hammer again.

With the Glock you have a consistent trigger pull for each shot. I believe they are around 5.5 to 6.5 lbs. It has no external safety but several internal safeties that are disengaged when you pull the trigger.

The Ruger's feel a bit bulky for my hand and have an awkward thumb safety.

Metal framed pistols have less felt recoil than polymer framed pistols.

The Glock has, generally speaking, higher capacity magazines in each caliber.

If you can afford $400 for a police trade-in Glock 19, you can afford $500 for a new one, used handguns rarely make good financial sense, you have no idea what issues you may be inheriting from the previous user. So - get a new Glock 19, and make sure it's a Gen 3, the latest Gen 4 models have some issues that are best avoided until Glock works out the kinks. Trust me on this. You will be a lot happier with a new gun, and there is no better all round choice than a Glock 19.

You cannot go wrong with the Glock pistols in any caliber. They are super durable, reliable, and as safe as a gun can be.They are also very user friendly, in that any part of the gun is capable of being replace/repaired by the owner once you study a little bit about the inners of this gun. Sigs and H&K's are too pricey, and their quality is not all that much different than that of the Glock.

For straight "business purposes" only, it's hard to beat the Glock 17. It's priced right, super-durable, super-corrosion resistant, and need little lube. It's a perfect gun for ccw. SW410S, Sigs, and HK guns are way over the top on price and for self-defense you do not need the most expensive gun. Forget the P95. They are inaccurate junk. I am not the only one who benched one and shot up a target like putting pepperonis on a pizza. They have a serious timing issue (slide weight) taht was documented in Gun Tests a few years back. even the staff oif G&A could not group with this thing.

I've owned the Glock and Ruger. The Glock's rock solid, the Ruger had a little too much take up in the trigger

Take a look at the model 22 Glock I love mine 40 cal. 15 round double stack mag. It's not for a person with small hands though. Those with small hands say it's to chunky I say it feels just right. For personal protection this is my baby and always will be.

Nothing beats Glocks for reliability, and for this reason alone I urge you go get the Glock. I prefer something more powerful than a 9mm, so I usually carry my Glock 20. The 10mm has about double the power of a 9mm and with my reloads it is devastating. Criminals beware, I'm ready...
* I bet those who thumbs downed this answer have either never shot a Glock 20 or are too wimpy to handle one...

i own 3 of the 4 you are looking at, for price the ruger is a good buy. all will be reliable, and all will do a great job. but it will depend on how each will fit your hand, all i can say, purchase any one that fits good, and the most important, purchase the one you can hit with. personally, i say ruger, i own many of them never had a failure in them.
