what are the shots for? It might make a difference. If you have a visiting nurse, and your mom feels comfortable, the nurse will probably "train" her - which really means making sure she is doing it correctly. But depending on the medication, you might want to just have your nurse do it. Some meds if not injected properly can cause all kinds of problems. (Like if it accidentally gets directly into the blood stream instead of in the muscle.)

ADDENDUM: Ask Your DOCTOR to give you the shots if the nurse is that bad. There was a nurse like that at the kids pediatrician and I complained and the next round of shots the doctor did! Unless there is another nurse you can request! But remember no matter who does them, they will still hurt a bit.

My dad who is no type of doctor whatsoever has given me allergy shots for about two years. This lady we know who is a nurse just told him how to do it and it's been fine every time.

I don't think you have anything to worry about espically since she used to be a EMT.

I hoep this helps !

I guess so, if the the nurse lets her. My doctor is my next door neighbour and best friends dad and when he gives me shot I barely feel them.
