There are other options than just metal braces. There is Invisalign. These are expensive and don't work as well as metal braces.
I have ceramic braces. They are barely visible up close and from a distance, they are invisible. They do not cost much more than traditional metal braces and work just as well.
Here is some info on metal versus ceramic braces. It also has some info on Invislign:

Good luck :)

There are lots of alternatives to traditional braces. Call a few orthodontists and see if any offer "free consults" Some will charge for a consult then take that amount off the cost, others will see you initially for free. Depending on how long you would need them on, it might be worth it to go with the silver and pay less. The other types (clear, invisiline etc... ) often cost a lot more.

you are never to old to try for a nice smile. Dental work has changed over the years and there are many kinds of braces including ones that go on the inside of the teeth. The points could be fixed with laminated veneers. See a dentist you trust and ask about what would be involved. Good luck
