If fruit flies are hanging around your parrots' food dish, that's a sign you're leaving your veggies and fruits out too long in the dish. Only give enough fruits and veggies to last 2-3 hours, then remove them.
To remove the fruit flies that are hanging around the food dish -put beer in a glass near the cage, making SURE that the parrot can NOT get in the beer. The fruit flies will be drawn to the beer due to the smell of decomposition of fruits and grains and drown. The beer is TOXIC to your parrot, so make sure that it can not get to the beer. Leave the beer there for a couple of hours, then dump and replace as needed.

Put any kind of sweet juice/pop in a dish add a few drops of dish soap and leave over night. You would not believe the number of fruit flies you will get.

Sassyfrass is right. Fly strips will work well.
The tip about the wine is good too, but I suggest you leave it sitting next to the cage in a long necked bottle instead of a glass. The flies smell it and fly inside the bottle, but then cannot find the opening to get out.
good luck

Oh good gosh... some of the answers you get... don't spray ANYTHING AROUND YOUR BIRD'S CAGE!!!!!! You could harm your bird. Go to the store and get some fly strips... they come in rolls like film.. Hook them around the cage but no where near where the bird can get a hold of them. they are very, very, very sticky. They will catch the flies... When your bird wants to come out you will need to take them down. They look very tacky, but they are safe for your animal... We use them at the humane shelter to cut down on flies, because they are harmless to the air the animals breath.

red wine attracts fruit flies and they will drown in it. pour a half a glass and set it near your bird cage. it works every time at my parent's house for the ones that seem to gather at their bird cages.

You don't.
You only leave fresh food out for, like 20 minutes, then you throw it out and clean it all up.
If they come around the pellets, which should be available all the time, throw them out and buy new. It's bad and needs to be replaced.
Basically, well cared for birds shouldn't attract bugs. You need to clean more and not leave the food out.

take a jar and put apple cider vinegar in it and cover it with plastic wrap, poke holes in it , small ones. They go in after the smell and can't get out. I have used this.
