NO, NO NO! the WORST thing you can do to your hair is to gradually go blonde, all this means is that the bleach will be seriously overlapping EVERYTIME you highlight your hair and will eventually cause HUGE breakage and over-bleached hair. why oh why do people think that this is the answer?! it is much safer on the hair to either just choose highlights and then get the roots done every 4-6 weeks or to do a full head bleachout to the stage you want to be and to just do the roots ONLY every 2-4 weeks and use non-peroxide toners every couple of weeks to refresh the tone.

at the minute i am doing the same with my hair but my hair is dark brown i have done this before and its easy to go blonde but just make sure you use conditioning treatments in you hair 2 to 3 times a weeks as blonde will dry your hair out especially when you are gettting bleach in your so often, but when you use conditioning treatments it will keep your hair in good condition,
hope this helps
