i havent have happy experiences with planes. i went on a plane maybe 6 times a little bit more. 2 of those times something bad happened either the plane dropped 10,000 ft in the air or the navigation was lost on a 12 hr flight 4hrs in so we had to go back to the airport switch computers and fly back while still staying on a plane. What can i do not to be scared next time i go on a plane. im 18 and a girl. Anybody else have a story to tell?

I'm sorry to hear of the problems, you experienced. They are the mathematical exceptions to normal.

Think of it like this. The insurance companies tell us that it is far safer to fly than to drive the same trip.

My experience is different. They take such care to make sure the plane is safe, that they have canceled trips or changed planes and put us on a different plane. I have had to wait while they fixed a plane, but we waited in the airport.
Airlines take far more care preparing for a flight than most people do with their car when they know they are driving such a trip.

Despite the fact that I have had these experiences, the majority of my trips have been uneventful. So much so that I was able to sleep on the flight.

wow, that sounds like a lot of bad luck. Actually, flying on a commercial airline is one of the safest ways to travel- much safer than driving or even walking! Take a deep breath and think about how virtually millions of people a day fly with no major incident. Planes depart and arrive every few minutes from every airport in the world and are just fine. And you will be, too! Take some of your favorite chick magazines, an ipod and earphones and a neckrest to catch a nap. Or strike up a conversation with a friendly looking seatmate- I've talked to some amazing people on flights! Relax and have fun!

that sounds like a very rare situation! You have more chances of getting in a car accident than in a plane crash! just relax and try to sleep! If your really nervous I would suggest taking a medication with a slight sedative in it so you will be calm and sleep the majority of your flight. I would take Dramamine or like a benadryl!

I work for a Airline!

How exciting! Look at it as an adventure. Bring what's most important to you on the plane if you're worried about lost luggage. And you can bring something to keep you busy during the flight. If need be, bring a few xanax or valium. Have fun and enjoy your trip.
